My 2500+'s Speed and Temp

My 2500+'s Speed and Temp

Well, I got my system running as soon as I got most of the parts (all thats missing is the 9800 Pro/XT. As you can see at Idle the temps are only 31C and its an Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+ speed and I upped the voltage up to 1.7 up from the stock 1.65 well here are some more specs:
Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.2Ghz
Vantec Aeroflow
Abit NF7-S V2.0
Kingston HyperX PC 3200 512MB
Seagate 120GB 7200 rpm HDD
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
Lite-On 16xDVD-ROM
Lite-On 52x32x52CD-RW
Sony Floppy Drive
Antec Perfomance II tower
Antec 350 Watt PSU
2X Coolermaster fans intake 1X Antec exhaust

Nforce Board + ATI makes the combo.....

This is good to see. Although I'm using an Asus A7N8X and might not quite be able to hit 200Mhz on the FSB. That's an extremely low temp, are you sure the prog is using the right sensor?? With a V7, mine runs at 52C at stock speed. Looking forward to a better HSF so I can do an imitation of that though.

that temp is insanely low for that core, especially that heatsink. I have an SLK-800, lapped, with an 80mm 3000rpm fan on it with the side off and A/C right next to it and at 100% load all the time i hang around 45C. [@ 2358MHz]

did you just start it up and get that temp?

nice setup, can you push the FSB up by a little bit more, you can get a lot out of the 2500+

Get the Vantec Aeroflow, prolly best HSF in it's price range

No, acctually it was running for an hour before I checked the temp, this is a record low, usual Idle is 34C. I contemplated upping the multiplyer because it runs so cool, but Im happy with a 3200+. I think it's partly the case and the coolermasters upfront that help it keep cool, and that HDD is acctually cool to the touch after a day of use.

There is no way your 3200+ core is that tmep without water cooling. With even the best Air cooling it shouldn't be less than 40 overclocked.

I water-cool my whole system ,have the same proc at the same speed, and I am getting 38 at full load.
Gateway Top-of-the-line PC = $2014
Home built top-of-the-line PC = $928
Exact clones...

Moral = Don't build your own PC, thus letting me save more money than you!

I'd throw Motherboard Monitor on there. That seems like a socket temp to me and not the CPU diod. I though I was running at 38C until I got the right sensor. Turned out I'm at 52C.

Well I reset the system and went into the BIOS and it read 36C for the CPU. And when I first built it whenever I shut it down I always opened her up felt the HSF and it never felt more than warm from top to the base it was just warm, the Thermaltake Volcano 7 on my Pally 2000+ would get almost hot to the touch after a bit of use, this Barton is barely warm, MoBo Monitor reports it at 33C so I guess sandra is pretty accurate

I have the Vantec Aeroflow and a Coolermaster Musketeer unit that has a thermometer and I stick it into the fins of the HS, and I also run FaD for team TIMO, number 2037, and the temp is close to 50*C according to the Musketeer. Of course, I'm sure it's much hotter than that since I don't think it's touching the core.

As to your picture, I don't think it's accurate. You should run Prime95 torture test, loop 3dmark, run a DC project, etc, anything to put a constant load.

Well I did run UT2k3[H] bench, X2, Aquamark3,3DMark 2001 and 03,and the new FFXI demo and it topped out at 46C. Now, I lack any external way of mesuring my temp, but with the BIOS,Sandra and MoBo Monitor all being close together temp wise I guess its accurate at least according to the temp. Hey you don't have to believe the picture, But I'd be stupid to fake something like this, hey maybe I got a "Golden Barton" or I stumbled upon the perfect set up for quiet and efficient air-cooling, I can't explain it, all I can say is that I'm happy with it and it runs stupidly stable. Heck if we were in the same room I'd let you run any torture test and mesure my temp any way you want. Maybe the mobo is off? But considering that the HSF is just almost warm after a session of UT2K3 Im guessing that it really is that temp.

Interesting, well, that's a mighty fine setup with a low temperature like that.

If you go with an external sensor, you are likely to find your actual temperature is much higher than the hardware monitor is reporting.

My 2500+ hits 44C idle at 2160 MHz with a Thermaltake Volcano 11+ Xaser, fan reduced to 3000 RPM. I can push upwards towards 50C, but only at 2250 MHz and beyond (1.92v core).

Anyway, that is a good air-cooled overclock, even more so if the temps are accurate. Great work!
