Acutally there are a lot more factors there, including the drivers cage strenght and the composition of the cage. Some trucks are safer than cars. Just as you can make the point that statisticly SUV's are LESS safe than cars in accidents due to the high rates of the drivers column and engine coming directly into the seating area. It all depends on the construction of the car......bottom line is do your safety homework before purchasing something, blanket assumptions do NOT hold true.
