Flash Uploader / Upload From Server

Hi,

I am having trouble uploading via the flash uploader and direct from server. Single and multiple files work fine using the standard upload interface.

Once you go to the preview page after the upload to fill in titles/description etc before submitting, there is nothing there and no errors are generated.

Safe mode is off as is the bypass workaround.

The paths are correct and all folders have the correct permissions.

Any ideas?

So your saying regular upload works fine.

There is not much I can say about the flash uploader since we did not write the app. I know it does not work on every server so there is a switch to turn that flash app on or off.

Uploading from the server should work as long as one checks the box to allow that and the path and all files are 777 permissions. I just tried that on a test site.

Hi Chuck,

The Flash Uploader has worked on this server previously, we recently uninstalled the gallery(3.0) from one domain and re-installed it on the new domain, but the newer version (3.01).

Since we re-installed it on the new domain, we have not been able to get the flash uploader or the upload from server working (both worked previously before re-installation).

I know there were no changes in the flash uploader from v3.0 to v3.01 so I'm a little confused why it won't work.

Any help is appreciated, I have 100's of images to upload and those 2 methods are the best way to do it.

Hi Chuck, yes I've just tried upload from server and that works fine now, not sure why it wasn't working for me before.

Any ideas about the flash uploader? I've just tried this again and it's still not uploading, even when a single picture is uploaded.

Maybe the upload from server did not work because permissions where NOT 777 as I stated in my reply. That is one of the first things I did was correct your permissions.

As far as the flash uploader I can not provide a solution as it does not work on all servers and since we did not write it we can not really fix it. It is an option we include in the software for users to use if it works. It can be turned off. For instance I know for a fact that if a server uses mod security then the flash upload will never work. That is one thing I have seen in the past.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for all your help, it's helped me to track down the problem.

It seems FireFTP is causing the permissions problems, I switched to another FTP client and it works every time for server uploads.

Thanks again.
