Links Codes and Tags Has anyone modified the way the Link Codes and Code Tags are displayed? Right now I can only turn them on or off for everyone - I would like to somehow make them visible to only persons with permissions. I would also like them to appear in a drop-down instead of constant display. Additionally, could the EXIF information also be placed in a drop down? Any help would be appreciated. |
Where is the proper place? Quote:
Someone please, give an old guy a bit of help... thank you. |
This is a suggestions forum where users post suggestions for future versions not a support forum. We do not post or monitor these suggestion forums in any support capacity hense there was nothing to answer since no one has seen this thread. Now code modification discussion is outside product support so you can post questions on how to modify your code for other customers to assist you if you like here. http://www.photopost.com/forum/photopost-vb-gallery-mod-corner/ |

I suggest a change to the way the codes and tags are displayed. I suggest that there be a way to control who can use or even see them. The reason of course is that "unauthorized" people can simply copy the tags if they are displayed and use them in posts that may or may not even be on the site. Suggestion, put a yes/no question type control in the usergroup control to the gallery.. "Can see tags? yes/no".. "Can right click copy tags yes/no" I also suggest quite humbly that the EXIF information be displayed in a drop-down box to save display space. Not everyone may be interested in the EXIF information and to have it available on a pull-down or button seems like a saving on display space. May I also "suggest" that a change be made to the installation of VBgallery to incorporate it into the "editor" on the forums, so that when you click on the "insert image" tag in the editor you can select from items found in the gallery, or portions of the gallery.. "F'instance.... If I upload small product pictures in the gallery I can select them from a display of them in the gallery".. I know, I know.. I can always "right click, copy, and paste" the tags found in the gallery display... But why not select the picture itself from an allowable display? Chuck, these aren't MODIFICATION requests, they're suggestions to better improve the program, if this isn't the place to post "suggestions"....where? |
Edward You seem a bit confused as you say above so let me further clarify what is support and what is code hacking. You asked how to hack/modify your code for your vbgallery in post 1 and then when no one responded to you in 3 weeks you got angry/frustrated and made post 2 and stated you paid for support why you did not get an answer. I saw this post and simply responded that we do not support code hacking. That suggestions forums are not monitored by Photopost staff as a general rule. These forums are here for developers when they are doing a beta to come and look for new feature suggestions. I stated because of this reason no one responded from support to this specific hacking request is that you had placed it in the wrong place on the forum and in a forum that support does not monitor at all. If I would have seen this post on January 22nd you would have gotten the same answer I posted. Please post in our modifications forum as this falls outside product support. Here is the direct link to the vbgallery mod corner. http://www.photopost.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=132 Now so there is no further confusion here on anyone's part what are the company policies on modifications to your code please read this http://www.photopost.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121156 EDIT. I see we posted at the same time. ;) If you want this to be a suggestion this is fine but please do familiarize yourself with the forum rules concerning code modifications. I don't want anyone mad cause they are under the assumption we are expected to code up changes they want. |

You were right about the three weeks, to get an answer from you that said I posted in the wrong place? I "thought" it was a suggestion forum Chuck. The answer to my first question could have been a simple, "Nope! but good idea".... (three weeks later I get a "You posted this in the wrong place") How about my second question on the "EXIF information"... Three weeks later I get Nadda... Now, I believe (and you'll probably argue this) that "SUPPORT" doesn't just mean accepting requests for hacks and modifcations or even fixing bugs.. Support to me means, "If you have questions about our product, we'll answer it the best we can." I wasn't ASKING for a hack or mod or fix.. I was asking if anyone has done any work along those lines in a SUGGESTION forum. Three weeks later I'm told I didn't post that in the right place. You sure cleared up the wait period, you stated you fellows don't monitor this forum on a regular basis. And today, you've misread EVERYTHING I said... Chuck. And start talking about your company's policy on changing code and such. How about your company's policy on "answering questions".. can you give me the page to read about that please?.. thank you in advance. If you don't want suggestions or questions just say so. |

as in, "Has anyone thought of putting a BACK button at the bottom of the enlarged picture?" Now to you that may seem like a request for a hack.. to me it's "food for thought, aka.. a Suggestion" to anyone who may drop by looking for an idea to develope in a "suggestion forum".. and such a thread could be replied to by a "Moderator" by saying... "Hey, good idea!... " or even, "Bad Idea... " And y'know?.. I'm the last one to tell you how to run your forums.. but even my comments about "Moderating" them is a Suggestion... <wink, wink> Have a great Day Chuck... I'll check out the Mod forums to see what may be shaking over there.. |
