nice urls
 

Having reigned at the top of the MSN search engine results with our gallery in the number one place for the search term 'gallery' for the past several months, msn have just changed their algorithm a couple of weeks ago and now we're not even on the radar.

All the chattering on the SEO forums suggests that nice/static/search engine friendly URLs now play a big part in MSN's new ranking system. We've always found the nice urls on the other parts of our site getting far better results with almost every search engine and now it seems as though MSN is insisting on it as well.

Unfortunately, the gallery is littered with unfriendly URLs, so I'd be keen to hear if there's any way that we can from this:

or something similar.

There is, but it would take a little while to do. I'm sure something like this will be an option in a future version though.

PhotoPost puts the gallery name and image name into the URLs now?


Last I saw, it uses slashes to make the URLS, but still just has the ID numbers for the category/image.

That doesn't help with the issue behind this thread. He needs keywords in the URLs, like vBSEO does for vBulletin. On my site for example:

Well I am not talking about putting non standard info in the url as I did not study the url he posted. I am simply saying the spider friendly url's are an easy enough suggestion as we do it in Photopost now.

Spiders these days can follow either URL type fine. It's the keywords in the URLs that are needed.

Lets get on this...ASAP! :)

Would love to see this also, currently have vbseo on my vga gallery using the custom rewrite feature but my members r reporting errors. So i might be disabling the vbseo from the gallery soon and would love to see this feature.
