| A few suggestions for RC4 and beyond - The ability to disable all or part of the Imagebits field on a per category basis
- Child categories automaticly inherit the permissions in their parent
- The ability to exclude certain categories from showing up in the "Most Recent" and "Random" images on the front page. You have this in CMPS for forums so shouldn't be hard.
- File size limits moved to the user groups (maybe an advanced option).
- The ability to play a media file in the gallery directly (advanced option)
Other than that, I really like what we have so far.

Don't they do this already?
Chef, it's not that simple and yes, there is a hack already by Kevin.

I didn't find the hack in a prior search. And I meant it would be easy in that vbulletin already does this so the code for doing so exists, not that it would be easy to create from scratch.

As they have said already, child categories already do inherit the permissions from their parent category.

As far as the ease of adding this feature I will retract my statement as I truly don't know. One of my sites run a phpBB forum and there is an Attachment mod that does this quite well with audio & video files so I assumed it would not be too tough to implement. It would be a fantastic feature that others like PhotoPost has yet to offer and would really help to kick this already great script up a notch.
Thanks.

Kevin has also been working on a hack to show all the video types inline, but has run into issues with odd OS's/Browsers.

Yeah, I'm still working on it (Chef, look in the add-ons area for "BETA"). Even with a few different versions of the templates that people have suggested I'm still hitting a problem where some browsers on Macs have issues. I'll get back to working on it again to nail down a doable solution. |

I will check it out KW, thank you. I tend to steer clear of the hacks with several development stages as I always think I will install the wrong part...lol
I will install gallery on my test board and see if I can get your mod working though.
And the heck with other browsers!! |
