Uploading - Category Validation

Can it use JS to confirm that required fields, such as Category, are chosen before uploading? It sucks to go through a LONG upload, only for it to come back and tell you that you have to choose a category. Even though I was doing multiple uploads, and it should have let me choose their category on the processing page anyway....

Hmm.

Is there any harm in having even single uploads go through the Processing page that multiple's go through? That way, the upload screen would just let you select the file(s), since the category, title, description, and other options could be set on the processing screen. This would also cut down on some of the confusion of having 5 upload prompts, but only 1 input for title/description that my users have had.
