Sourceforge gallery to VB gallery

I dont know if anyone has had good luck with the import script, I know I have had a few problems. Brain has busted his butt to get it working, while it did transfer all the files over, my users are not allowed to delete the pics.Mainly Because there is no owner of the pic. Brian has also worked his butt off for me on this tyring to get it to work and Ive tried everything he has suggested to no avail. Besides I dont want to take any more of his time up cause I want RC3 A.S.A.P.

The Admins can do anything but the users cannot.

SO I was tinkering around tonight and there is an option for ftp upload(basically via your server)

While this will upload all your pics( in mass quanities), it will not bring over the titles and descriptions, but it will bring over the pictures

Make a dir in on your sever called (what ever) ie www.yourwebsite.com/uploads1
go into you vbadmincp then Vbadvancedgallery then settings and set up the dirs in the ftp section to what you named it.

Then go into your Server cp panel(fastest way for me) File manager and locate the sourceforge gallery directory(usually called album) you want to put into the vbadvanced gallery. Copy the pictures from that dir to the one you created for the transfer.

Goto your vbadvanced gallery and click upload pictures, scroll to the sub cat where you want them. make sure you click the upload via ftp box and click upload..

Also you can add the users name in that your uploading it for as well.

Granted this is very crude, but it works and the users are able to have access to thier pictures( ie delete them, edit them etc.) plus using your server is alot faster than downloading them to your pc then re uploading them again. If you have a huge gallery your going to use some serious bandwidth ( i have over 3 gigs of pics)

one thing with the sourceforge gallery(like other galleries) it saves pics as pic.jpg ,pic.thumb.jpg ,pic.sized.jpg, so the only ones you want to transfer are the orgs. ie the ones like pic.jpg not pic.sized.jpg

Again this was one way to do it, cause I dont know anything about scripts or coding, just thought I would share it incase someone finds it useful
