Importing from PhotoPost PHP 4.7j to VBG 3.01

Hi,

Could someone help out with upgrading my PhotoPost PHP 4.7j to vB Gallery 3.01 ?

I rencently purchase vB 4 and upgraded and purchase vB Gallery yesterday but have no idea how to proceed with the import of my old data.

Thanks for your help,

Pharkas

There really is no supported script to do what you ask. You can try running the little utility included with vbGallery under the DO NOT UPLOAD extras directory there is a file called exportvbgallery.php

I would have no idea if that would work for such an old product like 4.7 which existed way before vbGallery even was written.

I was under the impression this could be done, I must have misunderstood your reply in my "before you buy" question.

I'm not allowed to post links so the title of the post is 145856-vbulletin-gallery-import.html

Should I install Photopost pro, then import, then switch to VBG ?

I have been running the old version for almost 5 years with daily uploads, I do not want to loose all of this data.

Right but I do not beleive you let anyone know you where running such an older version is what I am saying. You can do what you want to do but its a long drawn out process. I take it your old gallery is installed with a vb3 gallery already.

1. You need to upgrade your gallery to PhotoPost Pro 7 series download that already supports vbulletin 4 so upgrading is going to have your gallery working with your vbulletin you just upgraded to version 4 from 3.

2. If you want to switch to vbgallery you can do that from the 7 series by installing vbGallery and then using the import script utility in the download of vbGallery under the do not upload folders the filename I meantioned to import Pro content to vbGallery.

You do not need to switch to vbGallery if you want to continue running Pro. Its all up to you what level of work you want to do to run what.

In my original question, I had clearly mentioned it :

Hi,

I'm running an older 4.7j Photopost version.

I just want to make sure the new vB gallery will allow proper import of my old gallery.

Thanks !

Pharkas
Anyhow, no need to dwell, I'll try to upgrade as you explained and hopefully I can get it to run.

Thanks,

Pharkas

Well actually you did not meantion too much about your old Pro install as to how it is integrated etc. You merely meantioned how to switch to a different product vbGallery

So as you can see by my replies what you have to do depends greatly on your exact situation of which we do not have all the factors to answer you. Your old Photopost 4.7 could be a standalone not even integrated with vbulletin. Also as stated if you are already integrated with vb upgrading your Pro to the latest will make the gallery work with the new vb4 series. You can import to the other product vbGallery if you want to do all the other work involved.

Chuck,

To clarify...

What I have : PhotoPost PHP 4.7j, integrated with vbulletin 3.8.4. The only thing integrated is user sharing, not sure what else would be integrated.

What I want : Photopost vBgallery fully integrated with vB4.

Please suggest the best path to follow to complete the update.

Thanks for your help,

Pharkas

Yes my initial post should have laid out the steps for that.
