You can only upgrade an old gallery to the newer one via the upgrade script. You can not import some external vbgallery to another install there is no such scripting for that.

I have not upgraded from vBulletin 3.8.7 to 4.1.12 but I had to import with impex.
It is not possible to adapt a script to import the ones that are there for PhotoPost Pro -> vbgallery? Eventually it should be easier, right?
Regards
Marco

Your talking about a vb import script.

As stated there is no vbgallery import to vbgallery import.

You can try uninstalling vbgallery move over the vbgallery tables to the new server database and copy the files directory from that old install over to the new install you will probally need to delete the files directory that is on the new server.

But then you can run the install and do an upgrade option and then after the upgrade is done you can go into vbgallery admin and fix the urls and server paths as they would all be from your other old install

The point I am making is the only way to keep content is to upgrade.

Your asking about a vbulletin import script which we did not write nor do we give support for it. I assume you would have to deal with that issue if thats what the import script does.

I beleive if that is what they do in there import script they also do they not create some field with the import id. If that is the case I suppose you could write some sort of script to match the import id with the gallery userid and update things in the comments images and user tables etc. None of this is a supported thing from our software.

However there is a much simpler procedure where you do not have to mess with any of that. If your trying to move some site and to a new domain my suggestion is to do the following.

1. Upgrade the forum and gallery to the latest code on the old server.

2. Backup the database and the files from the old server.

3. Transfer them to the new server. Make sure to edit the forum config.php file with the new mysql info for the new server. Make sure to upload the gallery_config.php file with the new server path to your forum.

4. In phpmyadmin or mysql prompt you want to restore your database backup. It is alot easier through mysql command prompt.

5. Using phpmyadmin view the forum settings table and change any url to the new url.

6. You should then be able to login to your forum and change the urls and server paths for your vbgallery under the vbgallery admin tab.

7. Make sure to read any vbulletin and vbgallery documentation on the proper server paths for directories etc and things should be operational.
