This is only experimental and has not been tested on big sites.
AND it is very BETA... so if you use it, you are automatically a beta-tester
What it should do:
It should import the users album pics to vbgallery.
It will import them to the category you choose. If you want to keep them assigned to a member, you must import them to an existing member category.
What it will NOT do:
It will not import the album titles and album names...
So if for example you have user Luciano with 5 different albums with 10 pictures each, and you import those to a "Member category" it will import the 50 pictures that User Luciano had in vbulletin to user "Luciano's" gallery in vbgallery. He will then have to organize them himself.
(there is a reason for not importing the albums as categories: Imagine you have 5000 users with 10 albums each, that would create 50,000 categories in vbgallery. I do not think that the category cache will support that many. vBGallery is just a different concept.)
-----------------
HOW do you use the Importer? First above ALL, read the instruction carefully. AND then only follow these 5 steps.
First copy the file albumexport.php (in attached zip file)to your admincp folder
then call the file in your browser (making sure you are logged in)
STEP 1
Follow the instructions:
select a category (try your member category, or any other).
select import images and hit continue...
It will go through all your Album pics and start importing...
STEP 2
You will not see any images yet, as only the main image was imported.
go to admincp => vbgallery and select maintenance.
Here it is very important you follow the order of actions to take:
- A. scroll to Rebuild Image Sizes select thumbnails and the category you imported to! and rebuild.
once your done... - B. go back to maintenance and Rebuild Image Sizes select normal images and the category you imported to! (Make shure you select the category again, because it jumps back to ALL images and rebuilding all of them can take days!!!)
- C. do the same a third time selecting Original images. This can be very quick, as it will only process images that are bigger than the size you specified. (Do this only if you have selected "Keep Originals" in your vbgallery settings. here again... DONT FORGET TO SELECT THE CATEGORY YOU IMPORTED TO)
If you do
NOT have comments enabled for picture comments in vbbulletin, you are done.
skip to step 5.
If you have comments enabled and you want to import them also
do the following:
STEP 3:
Go back to the importer and select
import comments
this should import all the image comments of your imported images...
Dont worry of there are strange amounts of images processed on each page..
It imports about 10 images per page, but some images can have 100 comments and others only 1, so the amount of comments displayed in the importer output can vary from page to page...
Once your done, go to an image and verify if you are satisfied with the output.
If no, you can allways delete all the imported comments. do some adjustments and import again.
If yes you proceed to:
STEP 4:
Select Finalize in the Importer and hit continue.
This will remove the tables that have been created to allow undo..
So after you hit finalize, no more undo is possible.
Finally you move to:
STEP 5:
You go back to acp->vbgallery->maintenance and you update all counters. category, image, etc.. etc..
I am not really sure if all are needed but certainly users and category to update imagecounts.
Thats it..
As I said its very straight forward, and basic. But importing those images is only done once.
btw, Make sure you turn the useralbums off afterwards in vbulletin.
ATTENTION: Backup all your data before importing...
THIS IS BETA, NOT REALLY TESTED ON BIG SITES.. (but it has an undo..

)
