| Member's Galleries, Sub Folders?
I am using Member's Galleries and originally allowed them to create Sub-Categories. However, when they did... their new Sub Categories not only showed up under their Gallery, but would also show on my Main Gallery page list. I tried to change the "Depth of Categories on Index" from 2 to 1, but then lost view of my "Mains" Child categories.
I would like my members to be able to create their own Sub-Folders (categories?) to help organize their images. Any way to do this so only when in their gallery you see the sub-cats/folders?
Thanks in advance,
Rayo

members can not create categories
they can only create personal albums and they show up under the members gallery of that user or if they assign it to one of your categories it will show up under there http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/show.../ppuser/1/sl/c |

Chuck,
Thanks for the quick response. I fear I was unclear in that I am using VB Gallery. I have looked all over and I don't see an option for a user to create an Album, or upload to an Album etc. I only see Category Admin, and similar Category type functions. Do my users see something as an Admin I do not?
Any addtional advice would be appreciated,
Rayo

vBGallery => Edit / Add Categories => Category Options Act as Members' Category
When set to 'Yes', any uploads to this category will automatically be placed in a sub-category named after the user who uploaded the file. Allow Users to Create Sub-Categories
With these 2 settings set to YES on the same category should make all image uploaded appear under their username. If there are categories made by a user they will also show up when the username is selected.

Sweet! I've been trying to figure this out for about a week -- how to allow users to create sub cats... can't believe I missed that "Allow Users to Create Sub-Categories" right underneath the other one... thanks!

Where is the setting to show the user's sub-categories though such as in Chuck's reeftalk example? I have users that created sub-categories, but when I go to their page, I don't see these sub-categories, only the images they have uploaded.

k, I figured out how to display the sub-categories, but they show up as forums, not like in Chuck's reeftalk example. I'd like the sub-categories to only show an image instead of looking like this: Screenshot.jpg |

So, does that mean that Photopost vBGallery isn't able to display member created sub-categories as images instead of forums?

I do beleive Zach has answered this in his post. I will defer to his opinion since he develops this product. Member's Galleries, Sub Folders? |

Is there a way to get members albums to show up on the main index as a category. When a member makes an album nothing shows on the index. You have to click Members Galleries to be able to first see their albums.
So to be clear how can I change it so any members album will show on the index under a category...
I hope thats clear but I just found a big issue with photopost pro that I dont like. The organization of members photos goes into albums that dont show on the main index. BUMMER

The only thing you can do is elect to in your index options allow a personal albums link to be shown like so http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery
You can not show albums on the index sorry.

Is there a way to move an album to a catergory in the bulk move option. I get this message when I try to bulk move albums:
/homepages/XX/xxxxxxxxx/htdocs/mysite/gallery/data/504/medium/Air_Force_Museum_017.JPG -> /homepages/XX/xxxxxxxxx/htdocs/mysite/gallery/data/0/medium/Air_Force_Museum_017.JPG
Copy of the file failed. Operation cancelled.
Does vbgallery have more option then photopost? maybe im using the wrong gallery?

Ok what I am doing to work around what I feel are critically importnat missing features in Photopost is:
1. Remove permission for members to upload to "Members Galleries". Why you ask? These albums dont show on index and also in the mod to show new photos in vbadvanced they will not show there as well.
2. Make a new category called "Photos From members". Allow members to upload there and set this category as a member gallery not photo gallery. This way at least their photos will show on main index and cmps page. Poor feature of this is all uploaded photos just all get lumped into one main folder for a member! Thats really bad!!!
3. Now the missing features: At time of upload all members should be able to make an album that will show under their main folder in a particular catergory.
How albums are organized right now are seriously missing critical features that are standard in say something like Gallery2. Can we give serious though to adding the ability to allow members to create albums inside categories at TIME of upload. PLEASE!!!
That is a must feature for flexibility and organization that is missing from Photopost. I just caught this because I'm working on a gallery that is my first to allow members to upload and didn't realize there were so many missing features and limitations in photopost pro.

vbgallery has less features but anyway any suggestions you may have you can place in the photopost suggestions forum for the developer to read.
