| Flash uploader a little confusing..
Just did a fresh install.. vb 3.81pl1 and vbgallery 2.5 beta2
Everything seems to work fine..
I immediately tested the new flash uploader and i must say it must be a little confusing for the basic user... I am using Firefox 3.0.7 First thing:
I click on the "select files for upload" button.. => Nothing happens
Ok.. i really want to test it.. so I click again.. => wow file requester opening..
I upload 1 image.. nice... started without me doing nothing... and it says : 1 file uploaded.
Even nicer..
I upload a second file.. works again...
I see the file uploaded.. after a few seconds the info disappears..
everything is quiet again...
BUT it still says: 1 file uploaded.
I upload a third file .. same thing.. after upload... it says: 1 file uploaded. but actually i uploaded 3 of them!!!! (Now as a first time user.. i do not know.. has the file been overwritten? can i upload more?
________________
OK.. I think I know what I am doing.. and I know my site..
so I now fill out the fields below the uploader..
and click "submit"
And it works.. it gets me to the confirmation page where my 3 images are displayed... and it works nicely as usual.. BUT: A new user.. not knowing my site, would not know that he has to fill in stuff and submit.. because it says: file was uploaded...
So IMHO I think the uploader is nice (because it works ) But we still need: - A: something to tell the user how many pics he has allready uploaded (before submitting).. (some people want to upload like 20 pics.. at 13 or 14 you loose trace.. is there still enough room? am I at 14 or 15 pics.. etc.. Or am i overwriting the pic each time i upload one..?????)
- B: Tell the user, that after he has uploaded.. he has to submit and fill in the required fields !!!
- C: (easy but) Absolutely for beta3..for multilang sites: Phrases for upload text in flashupload template:
Select Files for Upload
Cancel All
x Files Uploaded
This is not critisism.. just trying to give some positive feedback.. the uploader is nice (!)

Luc,
I've also installed the new Beta and things are working fine. One thing that was in the earlier release that I'm now missing is the description of the photo that was under the filmstrip when you click on an individual photo.
This is the only place I'd like to show the description and other information but I can't find where to enable that info. I have found where to disable it for the other two locations. Can you point me in the right direction?

just tested..
below filmstrip I have... Quote:

| but of course you will only see the field description if there actually is a description.. (if you have entered one) you can go to editimage in the dropdownmenu and add a description.
AND of course in the ACP you have in: Show Image Options (showimage.php) Description Character Limit that should be greater than 0 otherwise it wont show.. Actually I dont know if 0 => none or 0=> unlimited.. Anyway set it to something inbetween 250 and 500, that should be ok.

hmmm.
In Show Image Options, I have 250 character limit for description and I've clicked 'Yes' on everything just to see what shows. But nothing shows at all after the filmstrip.

are you sure you did not collapse the module? then you have to uncollapse it, because it sets a cookie that makes it collapsed for all pages.. (but thats only for you)
so in your browser, clear your cookies, and load your site..

I'm not really happy with that flash uploader, there seems to be a lot of issues with this in the support area.
Tried to test this on the pp gallery and I observed the same confusing thing as luciano described. But what's even more confusing is that there is no button for the next page.
I don't understand for what we need a flash uploader if it can be expected that it prevents users from uploading images?
I'm now really not sure if I can risk an upgrade to 2.5 because of this.

You can redownload Photopost Pro 6.21 and reupload the uploadphoto templates there was a issue with the submit button that was not showing which is what is pictured in your attachment.

AND you have switch in settings where you can turn it off or on..

I'm now really not sure if I can risk an upgrade to 2.5 because of this. | Cosmetic changes and language variables can be changed by yourself.
I for one, changed all functions in steps, such as Step 1. Add Photos - THe next buttong, Step 2. Process Photos - then - Step 3. Complete your Uploads!
With this, there are 3 easy steps I can users to get used to..
I also tweaked the flash to hide the completed uploads a bit faster, so they drop off the list completely.
I am looking into adding txt to the bottom once all uploads are completed. Something like, Uploads 100% Complete - Please Select Step 2. to continue or something -
Either way, my goal is to provide, easy instructions on how to get the photos on the site.

I could remove the fields from the upload page and then the person has to enter the details for every photo on the next pages; don't people usually like being able to put in "default values" for the next page?

I beleive he is talking about the submit button that use to appear when a user finished processing files.

Well i just undestood what confused me...
I did not know that i could upload multible files at once.. so what i did was that i uploaded one file.. OK
then uploaded the next file ... ok
and then the third..
each time it said 1 file uploaded...
now when I upload 3 files at once.. it says 3 files uploaded..
in short:
If i upload 4 groups of files before processing.. i cant keep trace of how many i uploaded in sum (before processing)
that is what is confusing.. I think that some instruction text would do the trick...
And i just had a little idea
will do some tests.. to see what die uploader really does..
because I think what would be really cool is have the images be visualized right below when uploaded (ajax or iframe).. then the user could also delete an image before processesing .. but he would definetily know how many he uploaded before clicking .. save..(or process)#
