We just upgraded to the latest version. We have several problems, but we have to see if that has to do with our customized header, links etc. So will not bother you now for that.. One thing what I can not explain is that several symbols like ', Ü , Ë and & generate errors. Any idea? Thanks
well please explain what you mean as it is nearly impossible to provide assistance without more information.
I have no problems with umlates or symbols and have no idea what you mean by generate errors.
My initial suggestion would be to double check the upgrade documentation in the documentation folder and verify you have done everything there and then if you have issues provide accurate information examples steps etc.
You can also remove any custom headers or turn off enhanced integrations as a test to check and see if your stuff is not causing issues. There are various things you can do but generally I would need to know what your difficulties are.
The problem as I see it here is no one wants to provide any information to be able to get support nowadays. It is like pulling teeth here to get true information so that I can help you. Years ago it was like here is my site have a look. Funny thing is everyone wants better SEO which means you want your site linked from other sites but yet no one wants to post a url to there site which is one of the main things you need to provide to be able to get support.
Lets go no the assumption your using vb. Well most vBulletins load the charset iso-8859-1.
Therefore you want your database encoding set to that charset in the photopost config settings. Since your loading the vb header on your page you need to make sure your matching encoding. PhotoPost by default is UTF8 which is the preferred display for most sites since that displays almost any language in the world correctly.
You are absolutely right Chuck; Our board is closed because of the errors, but I have sent all info, including admin and ftp to you via the contact button. Your help is very much appreciated!! Best regards, Paul.
Your issue is exactly what I stated. Your using an alternate language and your charset encoding for your html page is iso-8859-1 yet you choose to set your mysql charset in the config settings to utf-8.
You can not mix and match that will totally affect the display of special characters.
No, I am afraid we have more issues. I have our board with over 110.000 photos closed for 48 hours now because we have problems. I did send the problemns to your contact us link, I got a confirmation as well. How can I send the problems to you and the ftp/admin info if you don't have access to the contact us information on your website? Thanks in advance! Paul
But I am sure you worked on it already, I think you are confusing this with another post/person. 2 of the problems are solved and we did not do that ourselves.... Or is the ftp/admin info going to somebody else??
One of the problems was the missing description box while uploading. This is solved and at our other installation, http://www.airlinepictures.net/ , it is still not ok. (I did not give ftp for that website)
All items fixed, except for 2. One is probably very easy for you: the error in the steelblue template. i would appreciate if you could do that today, since we can re-open our gallery than. thanks again for everything! Paul
Yes, fixed. Thanks again. Only thing which remains is that in the previous version, automatically break lines were inserted. In the new version lots of text is just one long line in the description. Indeed we copied and pasted the text, but it was showing well in the previous version. Is this a bug in the new version? Is there anything we can do? I am not sure, but there maybe thousands of photos on our website with this problem...
