Hi, I have had a problem with the upgrade from 8.3 to 8.42. The problem is the themes.
In the past we have integrated with the phpbb3 forum and that has been ok. Now it looks strange as some things are missing.
I know the phpbb integration is not guaranteed so I switched the forum integration off and tried to use the theme options. When I do that, the layout of everything is spread down the page looking terrible. I tried a number of different themes - light, grey, and a few others. The ones I've tried all do the same thing. It's like everything gets displayed in a narrow column down the page. It's at http://gallery.backyardpoultry.com.
I have the feature.tmpl feeding to the forum index as well and when I am not using the forum integration, that presents vertically down the page on the forum index. I know that's not your problem, but just mentioning it in case it's related.
At the moment I have turned the forum integration back on because that's the only presentation that's even readable at the moment.
I have emailed in some account details in case you are able to have a look at it for me.
Thanks very much for taking a look Chuck. I've made those permission changes.
As we've been having some trouble with ftp, I did the file upload by zipping up the files I wanted to use and then uploading it via cPanel File Manager. Then I unzipped the files via ssh choosing overwrite. Should that have caused any problems? I'm now wondering if some of the files haven't been updated.
It didn't work. I tried it and then reversed it again.
Even in the light theme which will sort of work, the comments section looks bad in the index. Also when you open up showphoto page the layout isn't nice. Huge gaps down the bottom. Photo tags & Photo details heading on right box overlap the picture border.
I have checked my files.

It's pretty frustrating. I uploaded the files twice but obviously some problem at my end.
It is looking a lot better now.
Can I check about the recent comments PAL on the index page. It doesn't work like it used to. If somebody puts a long comment in, the pictures stop displaying and it pushes and table or whatever it is out. It worked a lot better in the old version. This is what I see with a long comment in. As there is no picture there I can't go to the image or comment because the image is what had the link.
Is this something else where I haven't uploaded a file?

Just noticed that when I click on 'more' on the comments PAL, I get a very nice view of them so can get to them that way.
The PAL on the index page looks bad though. Is there a solution to that?
Also, something is mucking up the 'random' and 'most recent' strips on the home page. Sometimes I'm only seeing one or two images displayed in them. Will attach pics. It's like the new table arrangements aren't working.

Correction: It's all there, but the whole page is being pushed out to a ridiculous width by any comments so you can't see it with a normal page view. The comments need to be wrapped to the next line or something.
Another problem that I have is when large pictures don't look right in showphoto. This picture for example has a small white margin at the left of the picture, but nothing at the right where it is almost overlapping the photo details box. The blue heading bar does actually overlap the border at the top and you can see when you look at the bottom of the screen that the black border is overlapping the edge line of the box. It doesn't look good. Is this a setting I should change? I would be hoping that the system would show the photo at a size that will display nicely on the page even if it is bigger.

As far as the index page my suggestion was to change 100 to 200 not change 100 to 100 as that would do nothing.
I think you may have missed where I said that I changed it back because it didn't appear to do anything with regard to that problem.
I see that now it is on 250. Is that what's causing the super-wide index page?
I might try putting it back to 100 and see what happens.
edit: Yes reducing that number does bring the page width back. 100 is still too big though. It looks like it needs to be smaller to get the index fitting onto my laptop screen. I'll try 80 and see what that does.
edit2: 80 wasn't enough. To get the comment PAL back onto the page I went down to 40. It doesn't show enough of the comment to be useful which is a problem. Weird things are still happening though. One picture is sitting to the left in its column and is showing an incorrect link. I will point it out in a screenshot. Somethings screwed up there.

You did not understand what I wrote above a few posts above your issue is with html links in the comments no worries I just stripped all html from comment displays in that block and it works fine. You can not cut off comment lengths with html in there as it will break page html formatting.
Thanks Chuck. So how do we get the index page on the screen with no scrolling required? It's not working.
Also, there is an sql error showing when I log out. It does still log out, but this flashes momentarily on the screen.
Also, I have just noticed that all categories are on public view except for those that I have passworded. I have checked the category settings and they still look correct but groups don't appear to be working to restrict access. This is going to be a problem for me. If you would like an example, look at Archives.
Less important, but another error. When I click on Generate Google Sitemap, this is what I get:
Content visible to verified customers only.

There is no horizontal scroll bar on your site at all so not sure what your talking about.
Restricting category viewing is done in edit categories and set usergroup permissions for which groups you set to view. Your issue has nothing to do with this but something you forgot about we have addressed before. The phpbb3 default guest groupid is 1 and registered usergroup 2. Your groups are like 5304 and 5305 which requires the phpbb3.php file to be modified accordingly. I did that for you but thats why your groups did not work when logged out.
I was not aware that every upgrade was going to require a custom edit to make it find the phpbb3 groups. If you told me I had forgotten but thank you for fixing it.
I am using Google Chrome and there is a scroll bar. The page is too wide on IE and also Safari although Safari makes an adjustment to fit screen but you can see the top bar isn't as wide as the rest.
If you are not logged in, you won't see it because the recent comments PAL is not doing it for you. You need to log in. I will show you. Firstly, I will attach the Safari view from ipad - note the top menu shortening because Safari has had to reduce the page size to get it on the screen.
