Questions I need to resolve before I buy a licence

I've been messing around with Coppermine, but I cannot integrate that package because of the way I've set up my forum.

http://forum.mydomain.com/..

Coppermine needs a more orthodox setup to be able to integrate.

http://xxx.mydomain.com/forum/..
http://xxx.mydomain.com/gallery/..

If vBGallery shares this issue, I can stop here.

Also I run my forum on a shared Lycos server, it has a number of limitations. I cannot get the vBulletin attachment system to work in safe mode, uploading images to a separate folder.

Uploading to a folder isn't a problem in Coppermine, btw. So the above must be a vBulletin issue.

I am sorry if I cannot be more technical, I can get these packages to work in most cases following the documentation, and in some cases solve the basic issues which pop up, with or without direct help (often by browsing the standard search engines...).

The main reason I got vBullitin was because of its solid reputation, and great functionality.

I am now on the brink of getting vBGallery as a fitting gallery tool.

However before committing to a licence, basic no extras, I must know if it will work - if it will fully integrate and function within the limits of my hosting package.

Main buying reasons:

1. full integration
2. storing images separate from forum - on a folder

Thanks for your time.

Anyone, please?

I mean still thinking of getting a licence, but at US$ 129,- I need to know before I commit that the package will work for me.

Thanks.

Happy New Year, Ruy. You will find working with vBGallery very similiar to working with vBulletin - although you have the pricing mixed up, PhotoPost PRO is $129, vBGallery is $59 ( see here ).

Images are stored in their own file system seperate from the forum and integration with vBulletin is seemless as vBGallery was designed as a plug-in directly into vBulletin where Coppermine is a standalone application that has a "bridge" to vB.

Thanks Michael,

As far as I can tell both your products will work with Safe Mode on, main difference being the way the directory structure will be set up (single vs multiple).

If I am right than the only thing I need to figure out is if vbGallery is sufficient for our use.

Looks like I am a step closer to my purchase.

Thanks Chuck!

So that pretty much limits my options to vbGallery.

But it still allows me to upload to a directory (structure) right?

If so I'll opt for the vbGallery licence in two weeks time.

It places all files in one directory that has already been preset by you as 777

Thanks for answering all of my questions, I've just send in my PayPal payment for one licence of vBGallery. I'm sure it was the right decision. Looking forward to installing vBGallery on my (test)forum (first).

Regards,

Update

The test setup went relatively smoothly, after a couple of initial setbacks.

A little sweat, a lot of luck and some spare time is all it took.

Now it'll only be a matter of tweaking the settings and looking for the right useage.

Already have a few (minor) suggestions, but I'll post them in the right place!

Thanks again all.
