vbulletin with Photo Post Pro

When Photo Post Pro is integrated with vbulletin 3.5.4 does it write the photos in the the VB database or does photo post use a separate database.

it does not write the photos to the database full stop.

Our application copies files to disk as writing images to a database is pure bad form and can lead to serious issues of data loss and slow your site down.
