Question special price for vbgallery users ?

I have that feeling that only photopost pro is developed and modified while vbgallery is not supported and didnt changed since a year. I want to migrate to photopost pro and my question is is there a special price for vbgallery users? some promo codes ? Or we still have to pay 130 $ ?

Thanks in advance

Do a search someone has asked this already and got forwarded to sales@photopost.com (or something similar)

Just out of interest why do you think you should get special dispensation because of purchasing vbgallery?

Sensimilla,

There have been two patches that I recall in the prior year, including the 1.0.2 release, and development is going on right now for the next release including vB 3.6 compatibility.

To answer your question though, I do not believe that there is any discount available if you wish to switch from vBGallery to Pro but the email that Sybaris gave, sales@photopost.com, is whom you would have to contact to verify.

Kevin is correct here there is no discounts for purchasing Photopost Pro if you own vbGallery.

Any discounts we offer are on multiple license purchases at the same time.

If there will be one i am going to puchase also but without a discount i wont and i believe if you prepare a discount you'll increase photopost pro sales a lot.

My topic says it all, photopost bought vbgallery just to control the only real competition. Same way symantec ( which is a crap company ) bought sygate firewall which was far better software than Norton swiss cheese. If so, I think it would be nice to give us a discount for upgrading to the only developed software which is photopost and give up the efforts to keep vbgallery alive.

I'd like to clear up a few inaccuracies in the statements above.

PhotoPost has only owned vBGallery for the past 8 months. In that time we've issued two updates. We have a paid support staff for vBGallery, which continues to work on a version with improved integration for vBulletin 3.6. I don't consider any of these to be signs that we're trying to kill off the product (I also think this does a disservice to those who are working hard on a product version for vB3.6.)

I can certainly bring up the issue with Scott and see what we can do about offering an upgrade path for vBGallery users, though.

After googling and reading the court documents concerning the takeover of the vbgallery script by the photopost owners what you say is plainly not the case.

The reason stated in the papers is that vbgallery was infact taken from photopost and included a lot of the original coding which was and still is the IP of the owners of photopost.

So when you say the owners of photopost bought vbgallery to get rid of competition you are wrong, They aquired vbgallery from its developers and continue to support it, they moved the license the consumers bought from the original developers to themselves and allowed the consumers the right to carry on using vbgallery and recieve support here.

Now you think because you paid for one script to a third party you deserve the right to pay a small subsidy and get another more specialised product cheaper direct from here.

Hmm kind of like buying a mini from a car dealer and then wanting $40,000 off a top of the range BMW direct from BMW because of it.

I dont think its going to happen really do you?

I think the public record speaks for itself; and, honestly, that's all you are going to get from the parties involved. However, that said, I do think actions speak louder than words and we've backed up vBGallery from Day One with an updated combined license system, new open forums with verified customer tags, a paid support staff, a committment to updates and even retained the same pricing model for the past 8 months so that users could buy the product in the same manner as they have in the past at the same price. We also offered all existing vBGallery customers a free year extension to the updates in exchange for a copyright notice change.

That's not to say that the price isn't going to go up (it will); but we never really considered changing products an "upgrade path". In the past we have run specials for existing customers to purchase additional PhotoPost product licenses and I have no reason to think we won't do it again; but as for buying PhotoPost at a discount to convert your vBGallery license, that would be something I could pass along as a suggestion.

I don't want to involve in any kind of speculation about Photopost vbGallery case but i must admit that Photopost did way better then i expected. Once all the process was finalized i thought Photopost will support vbgallery for couple month and after that they will give up supporting it. Evet then i asked about this option. I am happy that Michael P. is going to pass along as a suggestion.

Thanks to everyone who showed support us here. Also by preparing a special discount for upgrade license then i believe lots of people will upgrade their galleries and you can focus on your main product Photopost way better. It will help all of us

PP vBGallery, just like the other members of the PhotoPost application family, is considered a "main" product.

Actually you dont know much about selling it seems. Yes it is a common practic by car dealers, "bring us your old automobile and get a huge discount on new one." never seen one of those ?
