will PP work as a photoblog?

I am looking to put a specialized page up that is similar to a photoblog.

Basically, people will upload images into a folder via anonymous FTP and I need a photo application to display them on a blog type or even photopost page and allow commenting.

It needs to import the images automatically since different people will be uploading and they won't be logging in via the web. It would be nice if it would create categories out of subfolders in that root ftp folder that it reads as well.

Another big plus would be friendly URLs.

Can PhotoPost work in this manner?

Basically Photopost is a web application and requires a user to be logged in to upload or if a guest they are going to upload and all images uploaded by guests all are grouped together

So based on what your posting above Photopost will not work in this manner.

So if everyone was uploading as a guest it is still possible that it would work?

i.e. could photopost be made to basically look at certain directories and create galleries from those directories?

Just trying to figure out what the options are.

Guest uploads are not distinguished from one another they are all lumped into anonymous or guest uploads so they are not categorized by user since they need to be registered to be a user.

I mean more so categories under one user (the guest or anonymous user).

I am basically wanting PP to mimic something similar to a photoblog, however, I want people to be able to conribute by just uploading via FTP.

I would like to put subdirectories in the FTP root directory (i.e. dates or something similar) and maybe have PP view those as categories.

Photopost does not work in this manner and you would need to make modifications to the code to incorporate your ideas.

The problem with uploading via FTP is the ability to identify where the source of the image is from - when you fill out a web form and send an image via the browser you have a way to idnetify and track a user; giving out FTP information means allowing anyone the ability to login to your server and potentially bypass any security benefit you get from knowing who your users are and what they are uploading.

We have add-on scripts which accept images via email or cell phone uploads; I would think that would be much more secure than using FTP.
