let's compare server setups

I've got a busy photopost install on a dedicated dual xeon 3.2 gig Dell box. redhat. 6 gigs of RAM, dual scsi drives at 15k RPM. no raid. we get about 300,000 photopost page views daily on this box. photopost 5.02.

my machine can't keep up with the load, should I be surprised? what type of setup do you have for *your* photopost?

My setup is 2.4 GHz Linux server with 512mb ram. Is this too slow to run Photopost? My server is crashing whenever there's more than 50 people browsing the gallery, and I have tried to turn off every option off, but it hasn't improved the server overload. It seems to me the load on the server has increased when I upgraded from 4.86 to 5.03. Is there anything I can do?

The main problem is the server's process keeps increasing and the load becomes something like 50, while CPU state says it's 90% idle... And the page either totally crashes or returns mysql_connect too many connections error.
