What to do.

I have a vbulletin site (3.8) that I'd like to upgrade the galleries.

I have data in both an OLD Photopost version. (not even sure what it hasn't been active in awhile) as well as the vbulletin built in gallery.

Should I go with Photopost Pro or Photopost vbGallery?

Can I merge both of my galleries now into one?
I've been reading that vbGaller will import from the built in gallery.
And I found the script to convert photopost to vbGallery.
(not sure what the minimum version is for this to work)

Can it be done?
What do I need to check on before I do anything?

1. If you have both licensing that depends on your licensing like for instance if your vbgallery is a real old license you may only be able to use vbgallery not either product. If you login to your members area for each license you should be able to see what products you able to download. If it lists both vbgallery and photopost pro yes you can use either one.

2. You can not merge two different galleries into one. Galleries can be converted yes but not merged

Let me clarify.

I don't have any of the old photopost Pro licensing anymore so I've not used it.
I do have all the old data and images.
(last version is probably 2 years old)

As far as vbGallery. I have not purchased it yet but the ideas is to purchase it.
Install it obviously.
Then run the scripts to move the galleries from Photopost Pro into vbGallery
And then run the scripts to move the vbulletin galleries to vbGallery

Does that make more sense?

Still stands you can not merge two different galleries the photo id's etc would prevent that you know category id's etc.

Now if you have the database and images from one old install it might be possible to import that or upgrade that all depends what you have really.

Let's make this a little clearer.

I found on the forum that there are scripts to convert or move images from Photopost to Photopost vbGallery.
And another Script which can move or import from vbulletin's built in gallery to Photopost vbGallery.

What I have now is an existing vb 3.8 forum where I'd like to make a new purchase of vbGallery and install it.
Run the script to move the images from the built in gallery to the vbGallery.

2nd I have an existing photopost data directory and database from photopost 5.61 (I believe). This is not running but was linked to uses on this vbulletin site.
I'd also like to run the other script to move/import/or whatever these images into the vbGallery as well.

Possible?

What might get lost/missing/or have to fix, etc.

Well yes you can do that you just can not merge two galleries like pro and vbgallery into one.

You can do this.

1. Install vbgallery.

2. Import photopost pro content into vbgallery

3. Import the vbalbums profile photos into vbgallery

That works fine because thats a totally different thing. You can not merge two galleries into another meaning pro and vbgallery because they all have category id's and photoid's and you cant insert values which already exist. The vb profile thing is something different that does not have category id's and as such we simply dump that stuff into vbgallery with new id's and assign them to specific member categories etc.
