PhotoPost PRO vB3 Enhanced Preview

You can find a preview of the new "vB3 Enhanced" version of PhotoPost which will be included in the next update. Some of the new features include:

. Use of vB3 bb markup code/smilies
. Use of vB3 message boxes (standard and enhanced)
. Use of vB3 collapse/expand controls

http://www.photopostdev.com/photopos...cat/503/page/1
http://www.photopostdev.com/photopost/index.php

Selecting POST A COMMENT will bring up the enhanced message entry box for posting new comments; quick replies use the standard box.

What had been previously distributed as a "mods" for forum integration will be included in the main product and also has been modified to use the vB3 controls. We will have a single "How To Integrate PhotoPost with vB3" guide with step by step instructions on how to integrate PhotoPost as smoothly as it is here.

Also in the works:

. Improved header-inc.php integration/setup
. Avatars that are stored on the server
. Stylesheets that are stored as a file

This is still a work-in-progress, so at times you may see me working on the layouts here on the site.

Hi Michael,

Do you have any idea when the next update will be? I just purchased the photopost. Also, if I purchased your installation service, and you installed photopost would you also install the updated version?

Thanks!

We can not install something Michael has not released yet. Otherwise if a customer wanted a beta installed over a regular version yes we would install that one.

I should have a BETA ready this week; I'm just added the final touches as there are a couple differences and I have to document them:

. There is a new config-int.php file which is used for several integrations (and can be used by any who write them); this removes the main configuration items for files like inc_photopost.php and header-inc.php and places them into one reusable file. (Specific integration variables are still in the files, but the generic ones are in this one file).
. header-inc.php has been modified to format headers better and to include various scripts when using some of the enhanced features. The main configuration items that control how enhanced features are used (if at all) is handled in the config-int.php file now.

I'm trying to make the integration as simple as possible; although I can't emliminate the need for a user to make sure their navbar paths are not relative. Adding several switches should help and makes it so that the header-inc.php file doesn't need to be edited.

PhotoPost 4.8.5 will be a fix release with greatly enhanced vB3 integration capabilities. We're also doing some house cleaning to improve the Admin interface and the configuration screens. vB3 Enhanced is simple a set of optional templates which can be turned on to take advantage of vB3's new capabilities; this is not a new version and can be enabled with a simple switch.

You can see an example of the new vB3 Enhanced version on PhotoPostDev.com.

vB3 Enhanced
==========

. New vB3 Enhanced mode with templates that take advantage of vB3 features like collapse/expand and vB3 look-and-feel
. Auto support for CSS as file option
. Inclusion of the inc_photopost.php and inc_features.php scripts which will now be PhotoPost supported scripts. These scripts allow the integration of Featured Photos and your Gallery listing on your vB Main Index page. New features for these integration mods include: collapse/expand (with memory), improved integration/configuration (much easier to integrate/configure, uses new config-int.php file for common settings) and security (photos or galleries user doesn't have permission for will not be displayed).
. Text areas, including signatures, descriptions and comments use vB's own internal bb code converter (includes smilies)
. Quick Reply uses vB3 enhanced input text box and Comments page can optionally use WYSIWYG interface (Comments page can also use simple enhanced version, both included and configurable with switch)
. Redesigned header-inc.php to remove configuration items (moved into a config-int.php) and improve vB header integration

Other New Features

. All 4.8.2 fixes reported to date.
. SMF integration (now supporting 11 forums)
. Thumbnail/Gallery selectible dropdown for showgallery pages which allow for thumbnail only views
. Assigned albums appear only on Page 1 and appear with thumbnails and owner
. Configurable location of "templates" directory in the event you want to rename the directory to savegaurd your template work
. Redesigned Admin Options page which allows sections to be selected
. Two new Options sections for Cookies and Forum settings
. Integration of the "Show Albums" mod which provides an index of all albums; switch can be used to add link to Members Gallery (see this example link)
. All SQL files have been removed and are self contained in scripts
. CONFIG-INC.PHP has been redone to remove most options and move then into the database; leaving only the necessary items in the config-inc.php file.
. New thumbnail option - rounded (used on PhotoPostDev).
. Upload limit per day - set per usergroup, limits number of daily uploads (BETA 3)
. Move/Delete options seperated - Admin Options now allow for specifying users can move or delete images individually. (Also, removed category change from Edit page if they cannot move an image). (BETA 3)
. Post/Vote options have been seperated and can each be set within categories section.
. User ability to sort albums to control the order in which they are displayed.
