Hi!

As nobody knew how to do it for over a few years already while quite a few dozen have actively requested it on vbseo.com, it was quite some work and it also requires a lot of modifications of the PhotoPost files wich would make your photopost instalation incompatible for updates.

I've converted a lot of language phrases to vBulletin phrases (actualy, it's pretty easy to do this because you can just put the phrase as value of an language variable in for example languages/english.php.

So if anyone or photopost themselfs could do this would be great so that PhotoPost would have support for the language selection of vBulletin.

You could easily create a product within vBulletin and then add new phrases to that product so that you can export it again and offer it as plugin/product (not as language but as product).

Btw, if you do this make sure to prefix all language variables like pp_xxxxx so that they are compatible with any other vBulletin mod.

The nice thing about my vBSEO setup is that it will rewrite photo indexes and photo's within the "forum directories".

For example:
http://www.papegaaienforum.com/gedra...ze-roodstaart/ is a forum
http://www.papegaaienforum.com/gedra...art/fotos.html is a photopost category index matching the forum
http://www.papegaaienforum.com/grijz...n/foto-90.html is a photo posted within that forum directory.

So if Google would take into account what content is available within one specific directory and if this would be information (forum messages) aswell as photos all relevant to 1 specific subject, this may get a lot of SE value to that directory for the specific subject.

Now it would just be getting a video index per forum aswell to make it complete.

I see that the links are not aligned right but the area above the blue band is part of the design and I like it pretty much.

If you run Vbulletin without the SEO package, and use photopost pro with spider friendly url's enabled, does vb change it back to the not so friendly standard?

I'd love to see this explained in step-by-step fashion as - indeed - it seems to be a hot-debated topic judging by what's written but absent on other support boards.

Some sort of SEO is needed for photopost.

I've got over 5000 photos on my site.

URL: Gibraltar & Southern Spain Photo Gallery
and get zero and I mean zero hits from search engines.

However some fairly recently added attachments in my forums get indexed and hits straight away.
One thread with an attached photo has had over 13,000 visits in the last few months.

geoff777, the topic of SEO has been discussed for years here, the developers just haven't made it a huge priority because PhotoPost is meant for people, not search engines. What I've done as a workaround is put a bunch of entries in my robots.txt telling search engines to not index many of the duplicate URLs. The problem is there are many different URLs which will take a user to the page. Google wastes your bandwidth and their time indexing the same page through multiple URLs. An update to robots.txt is a good interim measure until a better SEO'd photo-posting software script comes along ;-) Straight up, I'm not trying to be an ass, but I imagine all it would take is another company to come out with a properly SEO'd script and you guys will lose business.

Several years and over 100,000+ images on my site but virtually no hits from search engines...depsite getting 1.5m unique users for the rest of the site.

I used vbgallery and got google top ten for 'gallery', I use drupal, vbulletin, and 2/3 other software packages and get first place for hundreds of top keywords...but nothing through Photopost.

Don't waste your time asking Photopost to improve it. Years of asking by many members has never given the customers the SEO they want/need. It's one of the many reasons why so many people seem to hate using photopost. I've never seen software get so much stick from the customers, repeated ignored suggestions, slow development etc.

Proper SEO has been requested for years, but for some reason they're just not interested in fixing the problem and clearly couldn't care less that their customer's site doesn't work as it should.

I have the same issue. Over 41,000 images and no hits from google. Google doesn't even find the main gallery page itself.

You will probally need to have google crawl the site sometime after setting up the new SEO.
