Price you paid in showproduct.php

I see no special reason why the field "price you paid" is left out at the bottom of showproduct.php . It has all the other fields.

Most users use this Add your reviews section instead of clicking over to reviews.php and will initially not add a price.

I receive questions about this from my site members who later when they realize that there actually is an option for this, want to add it to their review. I have to ask them to edit their review to add the price which give them the opportunity to use review.php.

I did a search about this topic on this forum and a couple of others have asked about this and both received a simple "no, this field is not there".

I recommend strongly that this field is added to showproduct.php.

If there is a special reason why it cannot be added, I recommend to remove the Add your review section and replace it with a link to review.php like the link on top of the showproduct.php. This way, we can provide a consistent review with all options in place.

Thank you.

Actually there are a number of fields that do not show on the quick reply if you hit the review button and see a normal review. No extra fields etc

It is simply that a quick reply just like in a forum.

Hi Chuck,

I think you misunderstand. I am not referring to the form for uploading a new review (product) in uploadproduct.php which has the extra fields, etc.

Look at this picture:
http://www.downrange.tv/images/postreview.gif

The one on top is the quick reply on showproduct.php
The one at the bottom is the regular post review (answer).

The field for Paid Price and Rating is missing.

Again, I don't understand why those 2 reply options should be different and create inconsistency in the replies. Ratings and price are both important for reviewing a product and all posters should be given the opportunity to respond to it. My point is that members browse down the page and respond to the quick reply instead of using the link on top of the page. That's why most replies are without rating and price paid.

I am indeed referring to the quick reply. They are two different things one is a full review form and the other just that a quick reply which comes from forum threads. Are you familiar with quick reply?

You can turn off the quick reply if you dont want to show it in showproduct options

You can also download the new build and see if it helps as I will upload a 4.03 soon

As a forum administrator for the last 8 years, I am familiar with quick reply.

I think you are still missing my point. The quick reply is almost identical with the regular reply option with the exception of rating and price paid.

From a practical standpoint, members familiar with forums are used to see a reply button at the bottom of a thread. In the review script, members have to scroll back up to the top to reply or in many cases they don't even see the link. End result is a lower participation.

I have disabled quick reply in the past, but then I received questions about "how to reply or add a review to the product". I then reenabled the quick reply and answers increased dramatically, but without price paid and rating.

I simply want to suggest a practical and user friendly improvement of a script that I highly recommend. Easiest way is to add rating and price paid to quick reply and make it identical with the form in reviews.php. It will still be a quick reply feature but with consistent answers in terms of rating and average price of the product.

Thanks.

I am not missing your point ;)

Like I said your free to download 4.03 and upload the files noted to see if this helps but as noted the quick reply is just that a quick reply and will not have every available option example the additional review fields which are arrays will not be generated there. They are only done on the normal review. I added price to the quick reply in 4.03 so see if that helps you

Just uploaded the 4.03 files and now I finally see that you get my point. B=0

However, the quickcom.tmpl has an error and produce the word "Array" in the field for Price you paid.

Funnything though, it doesn't show for a product not yet being reviewed:

If it is possible to add rating to quickcom.tmpl, you definitely get passed my point. :)

Thanks for an incredible product support over the years.

yes I need to do more testing there as I had an issue with array trying to add pros and cons sometime back
