I noticed that the products aren't getting too many reviews. I then asked a few people to review some stuff and they told me they couldn't figure it out.

Review post needs that form at the bottom of the products so people can easily rate them, rather than clicking a link to go to another page to reivew the product.

Can the current templates be modified to do this?

It doesn't seem like people use it. What I think is difficult is that there is no way to keep a discussion moving. For reviewpost you have reviews in a BBS like fashion but there is no easy link to go to the forums to discuss a particular product.

I haven't used it in years hoping it would mature. Unfortunately I've found reviewpost to be crude at best. Even the reviews portion hasn't been improved so you can properly view a variety of products with various fields and nice formatting.

Perhaps Chuck, but since I bought it a long time ago, it still looks very much the same. In fact, most of the demo sites are either not there, not functional, or just well... not impressive or using the latest version.

I'm not writing this to just knock the script but, to be honest with you, the promise of some of the Photopost polish was promised many years ago. I was hoping to see some of that by now.

Well them simply put I would suggest that before you begin posting negative feedback about the script you download and install and or upgrade your copy.

In fact with Reviewpost 3.0 much of the Photopost features where indeed added. In fact more features where added in this version than any Photopost product at any upgrade process.

Here is the announcement thread of 3.0

Obviously you have not read that to post a response like you have here.

Actually Chuck, I was expecting a different kind of a reply and something more along the lines of using my comments to update the site to have links that work and actually show a demo of 3.0 actually working. I've spent enough time with prior version not to care to just install YA version to see the same old stuff.

Regarding the reeftalk link that you've just posted that say how great the new version is, is it surprising that it doesn't work either?

I read the changes list of things you added. We are talking about a time period of well over a year and a half and there are still field limitations mentioned earlier. My personal thought is that a great deal of effort was placed in areas peripheral.

Of course I want the product to succeed. I bought it as well as a few copies of photopost. The attitude here is good, support is far better than anywhere else, replies are much more active, etc. Right now there still isn't another script that comes close and censura is encoded, will stay that way, and will always be mediocre as a result.

My advice is to clean up the who reviewpost front page, make sure all the links work, and not try to be all things to all people and just improve the core of the product. That is what needs it most -- the other stuff (mambo compatibility?) is extraneous, detracts focus and limits development efforts on the core. The previous make reviewpost appear less impressive than it is and the latter comments are why it is less than it could be...

We have no control over what versions people run of the software. There are simple links to reviewpost powered sites just like all of our products. The versions are many different ones. This goes for any of our product pages that have sites linked

Here is a 3.0 reviewpost

http://www.extremefitness.com/reviews/index.php

http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/reviewpost/index.php

My server is experiencing difficulties today and is being worked on thats why you cant see mine right now.

I suggested though since you posted negative feedback about Reviewpost that you take the time to try it. The point I am trying to get across here is your comments are simply based off a very old product and not the current code. I love hearing suggestions and constructive criticism beleive me but I suggest at least we be on the same page here. Your talking about alot of the photopost features where promised to be added and indeed they were.

Thanks for the links, much appreciated. I've taken a look and here are my comments.

1) My suggestion regarding user sites is something that you guys should audit. You only have a few sites up there, several non-functioning. I was doing you a favor telling you about it. If I end up being able to use reviewpost, I'd be glad to help you sell it and put mine in the showcase, but at least it will be functioning.

2) While there is no question that parts of the product are incredibly strong and amazingly versatile, there are still areas where it doesn't act at all like a basic reviewing script. There is no simple way to sort reviews by ratings, best to worst, worst to best, etc. While an Amazon 5 star ratings comprehensive dropdown would be fantastic, basic sorts are a given. A suggestion that I think is essential.

3) I haven't had time to take a look at the admin section completely but I will say that there improvements I can see and thanks. Not wailing on the script but while there are some great bells and whistles from Photopost it really still needs a few more tweaks to look more like a reviewing script and not a photopost knock-off. Is it worth the money? I don't think you'll find a more comprehensive review script on the web anywhere near the price, let alone with full source code, period. Just some suggestions to finally get it where I think it really needs to be but you're not far off.
