question about settings in the database

Using RP 3.0 I have a question for the techies on the database side of it.

If I switch the EXTRA fields in the Product Table from varchar(255) to just TEXT will it cause any problems or is it unwise to do this. The text limit with varchar is to small for my needs.

Will this cause any kinds of conflicts?

Mike
