RP3 Feature Requests

Okay, folks, RP3 development is under way and now is the time to put in your requests for new features. I'll go through this forum and have a few ideas of my own, starting with this one:

. Manufacturer Index which links to a page which displays all products by a manufacturer

http://www.photopostdev.com/reviews/index.php

The vB3 Enhanced integration with the new PP5 code is complete; now its time to work on new features and improving the interface.

Edit: I see a list has been started:

It sounds like after PP v5 finsihed BETA that RP will be the next up. Let's try and summarize a user's feature request(s) for the new version. I know alot of us have asked for so many features, so let's try and summarize for Michael and the team...

Here's what I've seen in this forum in the past... In NO order of importance... I will number just so it becomes easier to refer to in replies... Once we get this list close, let's create a poll and see what is the most commonly requested...

1. Compare Products (by any fields, std. or custom)
2. Affiliate Information in the Control Panel
3. Additional Fields (How Many?)
4. Thumbnail Sizes? (Small, Medium, Large)
5. Rating Types (Bar, Star, etc.)
6. Subscriptions (by Category using VB)
7. Categories (Mass Permissions, Delete)
8. Spider Friendly Reviews (Not sure if this is in 2.8)
9. Graphic next to each category (like PPv5Beta)
10. HTML in the review
11. Cleaner Show Cat page (implement Brianex's solution)
12. Sort by Field (even the Custom Fields) Ascending/Descending
13. Different Curriencies Option (in the Control Panel)
14. Auto Sorting Categories (Sort by Alphabetical when you enter new Categories)
15. Searching Improved
16. Multiple Ratings (More than today)
17. ?

18. New Product Template

http://www.trumpetreview.com/showpro...&cat=18&page=1

I am willing to share the code with you Michael, if you like this as an option for your new release... I like it, and is easy to implement different affiliates...

I like it, more professioanl looking... Perhaps, have a few different versions so others can try different templates...

9. Graphic next to each category (like PPv5Beta)

This looks really good, and I'm assuming would be able to easily implemented into ReviewPost, since it looks like you have it already in PhotoPost...

I'm assuming you have a field when you create the category that you can attach an image??? (I don't use PhotoPost)...

Thanks -

19. Quick Add New Reviews

Often I have products that have variations, and would find it easier to easily create a copy of a current product, and do a simple edit (text) of the description... Possible?

Bad word filter

Would be good to have an configurable list of bad words - and have RP **** them out and/or warn the reviewer if they appear in a review

Censura did that and it's about the only thing it did right.
ReviewPost works out an average for individual product reviews. When putting in extra ratings fields it needs to do some that wouldn't work out an average. To better explain if one of the ratings were "time of day review was carried out" there would be no need for an average- this is purely informational and relates only to that specific reveiw of a product.

The additional fields should allow setting of whether it is a text field or TEXTAREA - and maybe allow entry for number of columns and rows of the TEXTAREA.

Add product title to entries in Recent Reviews PAL

Most Popular PAL should be based on highest rating instead of most views - or name should be changed to Most Viewed PAL.

Allow Moderator usergroup to edit products and reviews - or create a new Super Moderator level access with this capability.

NEVER display current DB password to those with admin access.

Add switch to require SSL (https) to access admin panel.

Allow disable/enable on each product rather than requiring deletion in order to not display them temporarily.

Add "Email this product to a friend" feature.

Search should search the comments/reviews table in addition to the products.

Add support for displaying the user name that posted a new product in showproduct.php

I would like the following, basically make it much more like epinions:

1. Each review can have a Title field
"Cool concept, but is it really worth $1200.00 to watch TV?"
2. Each Reviews can have a short 50-word summary field called Overall Opinion
3. Each review has a "Where Purchased" field like the current price paid
4. Each category has its own customizable review subratings like quality, ease-of-use, etc that all roll up into a summary rating and configurable on a category basis.
5. Each category can have a different list of custom fields.
6. Users can post comments on reviews without leaving a rating. They can ask questions, etc and the reviewer or other members can respond.
7. Users can rate reviews 5-1 as Very helpful or not helpful scale. Some helpful reviews might be shown first together with unrated reviews. Less helpful reviews fall to the bottom.
8. Reviews are shown in Summary mode first, with the short summary, rating and a 200 word summary with a Read Full Review link.
9. Show all review comments and review ratings on the "full review" page.
10. Admin can select to moderate only anonymous reviews, moderate nothing or moderate everything.
In other words, make it more likeEPINIONS

Looking forward to a new release soon!

Thanks

Matt

1: The ability to disable "price paid" in reviews.
2: In ReviewPost in /showcat.php?cat=1 there are currently only twelve items per page being shown - make this a configurable value.
3: A 'last 5 reviews posted' block for use on say the front page of a portal.

I have a MUCH NEEDED request...

I would LOVE my users to be able to use HTML within their review, but more easily, such as a forum offers, with easy buttons to choose, pop-up prompts for image imbedding, etc. much like vBulletin. Many of my users are not gifted computer users and won't easily know how to make their reviews look more esthetically pleasing even thought they want to.

I know they can use BBCode, but it's just not easy enough right now. Having the buttons there above the text area would be a plus, just like in this forum, the ability to choose font, size, color, insert links, images, etc.

be able to see the users avatars from their forum profile, and other forum info. Like their name from their review posted to a product should link to their profile. That would be nice.
