Upgrading to Reviewpost 5 Errors, Bugs?

A few things I've found while trying to upgrade to the new beta 5 Reviewpost...

1. The upgrade script started spitting it's dummies at me when trying to go through the upgrade stages, it got "update 3.2 database" and simply stopped saying it could not connect to database, which I worked out was around line 1477 or so in the upgrade switch, each subsequent upgrade bit after that also failed for the same could not connect reasons. Anyway, I believe the line require "config-inc.php"; was missing at certain points, so having added that in, the upgrade script then worked smoothly for me, or appears to have anyway.

2. The next stage was turning on the .htaccess bit to run the seo version. this has gone fairly well it appears, except for a few minor errors.

Clicking on a username in the review section gives the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /mypathwouldbehere/reviews/member.php on line 1137

Which i've not been able to fathom out thus far, as that's not a seo error, that's an actual error in the members page, which i've never had before, so it says there's a bug somewhere in the members page. That error happens whether it's set to none, spider or seo.

Another error which was not there before the upgrade, which I have to presume is a bug, is on the front page, the "most viewed" links have the wrong path and all lead to 404 pages, which I have to presume is a seo error, as those links take you to the right place with seo turned off, or in spider mode.

Another error, which I don't even know is an error or a bug or what, is again with the "most viewed" box on the main index, the length of the text links is set at 20 or there abouts and looks really daft with the amount of space being left after the 3 dots.

I am still going through the scripts at the moment looking for other bugs, this is beta "testing" after all, but most of it seems to be working fine.

One thing I have noticed is that the navbar is seriously skinny, it doesn't sit right compared to the other head bars on the pages. In the navbar, there is also a "members list" option... Could this possibly be made an admin assigned optional or something, the only people who upload products on my site are me and 2 other people and it's pointless me showing visitors that information, which means i'd have to manually edit that template to remove that.

I'll keep looking and will post any further issues I find.

A fix for the members profile page bit would be nice to have quite quickly. Oh and yes chuck, i've done the uploading nice fresh stuff and there's no customisations in my review section.

It's live but buggy, but as said, that's what beta testing is about, you can see it here: Main Index - Reviews

1. yes missing in two places

2. redownload the build and upload member.php

3. Thats not a bug the titles are suppose to be limited in length or that sidebar pal would cause the page to break width

4. redownload the build and upload pp-inc.php for the 404 links

That's done the trick on those.

On the member page, on clicking statistics, I couldn't help but notice a page layout error, other parts of the profile page seem to work fine: Member Profile - Reviews

I also noticed that on the main page, clicking on all products under the search box, produced no results, which can't be right?

I'll look for more in the morning, bit late to start adding products to test those bits out.

Layout Wrong Screenie

That's what i'm getting on the statistics page of the profile. There's something not quite right in the formatting. Every other page is loading perfectly, so i'd have said there must be a missing/extra tag somewhere for that particular page.

I'll have look deeper into the "all products" thing, it clearly works fine on yours, but not at all on mine.

Sorry matey, but which template is that?

But yeah, definately vB3 at the moment, long way away from wanting to go to vB4 and the multitude of headaches that is likely to bring.

Hmmm, that gives the following error on the page when I use that code:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /pathtothescriptwouldbehere/templates/vb3enhanced/profile.tmpl on line 27

I don't know why it's doing it, but it's just not working right for me at the moment. But with the original, although squished, it is displaying without the parse error, so i'll leave it like that just for the moment and will go through it from my end and see what is making it do it. I don't know why it works on yours and not mine though, that's got me baffled. i'll get it sorted though and if it is anything relevent, i'll post my findings here, in case it would be of use to anyone else should they suffer a similar thing.
