Installation during errors

Oops, I meant to type "Errors during installation" as the subject for this thread.

I thought I had followed every instruction in the installation manual to the letter. However, when I try to run install.php, all I get is this error message:

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@fireworksland.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.39 Server at fireworksland.com Port 80"

What could be the possible causes?

Remove the .NEW extention off both config files and then you should be fine to run install

Thanks for your fast reply. I don't see where .NEW is anywhere. I have these files:

config-inc.php
config-intr.php

Neither one has .NEW as an extension, nor do I find .NEW anywhere within either of those files or in install.php

Yes, if I put a phpinfo.php file into the same directory and run it, I get a page of information about the PHP. But if I try to run install.php in the same directory, I get that error message. What could be the cause?

You might want to post a url but off the top of my head I would not know as there should be no issues. I just did a test install of the downloaded code and no issues that I see. Try ftping the files again to your site maybe the install file or config files etc are corrupt. Permissions on files should be 644 unless noted in the install doc.

Thank you for your reply. I guess it was a permissions issue, because I changed the permissions on install.php to 644 and it runs. I asked my hosting company what the path is to ImageMagick, and they told me /usr/bin/convert is the path. Is that acceptable for the Path for MOGRIFY executable, or does the path have to say "mogrify?"
Thanks
