| quick question pre-install
Hi there,
I'm about to install Review post and have a quick question (for teh avoidance of doubt).
I'm running vbulletin and want to use teh same database for my reviewpost install.
Is this correct for the config file:
I use the existing vb database name and login details for both the reviewpost database and the user database entries in config?
Thanks for any advice / confirmation.
Gord

Hi Chuck,
Couldn't get it to work. Got the following message at the end of hte install process:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /homepages/42/d175458985/htdocs/reviewpost/pp-inc.php on line 201
I cannot connect to the Members database. []
Any idea what i did wrong or how i can remedy the situation? (everything went really well up to this point, by the way ...
Thanks for any pointers.
Gord

Make sure you have entered the correct database settings in the config for the photopost and user databases.

Just tried a fresh install and got this ...
Step 3: MySQL error reported: [CREATE TABLE rp_admlog (id int(10) NOT NULL auto_increment,adminuser varchar(50) NOT NULL default '',description varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',datestamp int(20) NOT NULL default '0',ip varchar(35) NOT NULL default '',PRIMARY KEY (id)) TYPE=MyISAM]
Result: Table 'rp_admlog' already exists
Database: db175604412
etc etc (loads of it).
Seems I have made a right mess here (btw, the database name was correct in the config file).

duplicate query is not a problem just continue and yes run through install once correctly and complete is the correct course of action.

my forum has crashed: www.moongolfer.com
as this has never happened before, could it be due to the failed installation of Review Post?

yeah ... it only stayed down for about 15 mins. Must have been a coincidental hosting issue.
Still can't get Reviewpost to install though ... just hundreds of error messages ... it's a mystery! |

As noted duplicate errors are not a problem since all that says is you are already installed before.
You can post issues here

Thanks Chuck.
The thing i can't understand is why it can't access the database, if it's already installed. It would have needed to access the database during installation ... |

Your database info is not correct on both parts remember you need to fill out the reviewpost and user database sections on config

scared to run it in case i'm destabilising the database ...
what i'll do is restore the database to a previous version this evening and then re-install review post from scratch. I must have done something wrong ...
i'll report back

Sorted.
It was a bizarre coincidence: i received an email from my host apologising for the disruption caused by server maintenance ... they might have warned me!
The reviewpost problem was caused by the user database host name defaulting to "localhost". Fixed that and now it works.
Thanks for your help, Chuck.
