Unrecoverable error on upgrade 2.8b4 to 3.11

All the upgrade steps went fine, except for a slew of "unlink" errors which i just ignored as I figured I could delete the files later?

Anyway now all I get is: We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later.

I'm certain that the config-inc.php file has correct database settings, prefix, etc.

Ok I don't know what happened but it is all of a sudden working partly now.

Get this error atop every product page:

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/talkbass/public_html/reviews/forums/vb3.php on line 142

Fixed.

Needed to change "uf.field2" in vb3.php to "uf.field10". My vb install is a very old one, and has the user 'location' field under 'field10'.

Funny how that 'unrecoverable error' just went away...

One last minor thing. In my footer instead of version info it says:
