Spider Friendly URL - Problem

After I toggle the Spider Friendly URLs feature to YES in the admin program, I get the following type of page errors:

The requested URL /reviews/showcat.php/cat/8 was not found on this server

Do I need to do something else (perhaps at the Apache level such as mod_rewrite)?

Please advise. - Thanks. -- Rik

As noted in your other thread I listed the file but you need to have a dedicated or virtual dedicated server and SSH access to enable this

Just been informed by our server that Mod_rewrite is installed on all their Linux severs by default; it does not have to be installed or enabled. I was told I do not need to enable mod_rewrite in the httpd.conf as this is handled at a global level. All I need to do is add the desired code to the body of your .htaccess file.

So does anyone know what code I would need to put in the .htaccess file? I also assume this .htaccess file needs to be placed in the photopost directy.

My root has

RewriteEngine On
rewritecond %{http_host} ^aacircle.com.au
rewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.aacircle.com.au/$1 [R=301,L]

Thank you.

mod_rewrite is working for another of our scripts but not for photopost. Hence I can only assume no changes are needed to apache config.

What do uses have in their .htaccess file found in the photopost directory? If I add the same file, it most probably will work.

Sorry nothing I can add more to this. I have stated what you need to do to enable spider friendly url's. If you can not make the edit noted in your apache config you can not use spider urls

Just found out this directive is only available on Apache 2 servers and cPanel doesn't support it.
