It appears that your host has recently enabled safe mode and that appears to be the likely cause of the error.

From what I recall, I don't think RP is supported with safe mode on (needs it to be off although it can work if users aren't uploading and owner, group and permissions are set up to allow RP to do what it needs to do).

Right, it looks like something in your server configuration changed to where Safe mode was turned on. Contact your ISP and ask if they can turn it off as before.

I just got off the phone wiht my ISP, and they will not turn it backl on (I'm on a shared server)... The only option they said, is if I bought my own dedicated server... ($150/month)

They said someone else on my shared server, had a piece of php code that was being hacked, and they have now turned safe mode off on the server I'm on...

They're kind of being a pain, but have left me with no options???

Are there any workarounds for this? My VB is still running... Is it just ReviewPost having the issue, or is there a potential solution?

Thanks for any ideas?
Todd

Thanks, can you PM me any other ideas for good hosts... I am running a VB site in conjunction - so I need a medium sized, long term type of solution as I start the process of transferring...

Appreciate it...

appearently you can get around safemode restrictions by changing relative includes to absolutes...

so, instead of
/home/userbob/public_html/blah/blah.php

use
http://www.domain.com/blah/blah.php

It would mean a significant code edit, but might be worth a shot?

Also, if you already have a repore with your hosting company, call them again and ask if they'd consider running a modified safemode... Modified safemode will still run in safemode, but restrict especially dangerous calls whilst leaving others open, like fopen
