| Moving domains after malware attack
Cross site scripting via Word Press brought down one of my domains. I would like to move my review post install to a different domain with a fresh install. Is this possible? I read the move to another server but what I need is a little different. Advice and a push in the right direction would be very helpful.
Thanks
Tim

Forgot to mention that the site I would like to move (Restore) uses a Invision Board users db. I would like to convert this to a stand-a-lone. Possible?

Well you can surely move the site thats not an issue How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories
That tutorial would cover any of the products. Basically you move the directories and databases and fill in the new proper server paths urls database info.
As far not doing the forum its possible but you would either need to start over or write some type of custom script to import the forum users.
The issue is when integrating with a forum we get the user info from the forum we do not use our users table therefore your users do not exist.
The easiest thing would be to obviously use the forum and reviewpost but do not install wordpress.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. Starting over is not an issue for users as we really use the site as a database for model car information with the review part not really being utilized. For the most part user db would only need to be people who are entering product data and I could create them after install.
Can this be restored using a new install or would I need to go back and run updates. Not sure what version I was using but I believe it was 3.2. The biggest thing I need is to restore the product data that is present and that is over 5,000 records. Could a new forum user database be used? For the most part this will be a stand a lone app but I could use a forum for support.

Well like I said the problem here is if you are integrated with a forum then users exist only in the forum.
You can install as a standalone but all your products reviews would be orphaned as all the users would not exist anymore.
If you do not mind the products being there but having to start over with users you could install as a standalone and users can register. You can set all your old products to be owned by you with a query in phpmyadmin to the new userid username you use.

OK so what changes from the linked article would I need to make.
I will be doing the following.
Uploading new Review post files and setting needed permissions.
Backing up and restoring database
Edit main config files
Modify confgs within Review post
Change storage paths etc.
Not using a forum and installing this as a stand-a-lone would I still restore the entire db?

You would retore the entire database upload all files set permissions like a normal install and delete the tp_usergroups table and then run the install script and install as a standalone.

Let me know if you have some more in depth questions as I know this might be a complex issue since your looking to switch an integration as well as move.

Hi Chuck, getting closer to doing the above but have one particular question that I want to be sure of before I get started. When the database is moved to the new domain can I create a new db on the new domain and drop in the data or does the entire db need to be moved.

Chuck, database has been moved and restored. All I should have to do now is remove the rp_user tables and then do a normal install. Correct? Any issue I should be looking for that could happen?

Moved database from one domain to another. Going to do new install of review post. Old install was integrated with a forum. New install will be stand-a-lone.
Created new database
inserted all tables and data in new db
I will remove user table before install.
I know you said I will have to run a query so all reviews are owned by me as I won't have the user information from the old forum install.

Yes you will need to run a query so all products are owned by you.
I do not know how much sense keeping reviews on products since the users who posted the reviews do not exist although technically you could also make all those owned by you.

The program is not really used as a review script as much as it is a database for die cast model cars. There are over 5,000 models listed where 3 users have entered all the data. The majority of listings don't have reviews attached to it. That is why I am not really concerned about the user information as it's not really an issue. In total there may be 20 reviews total so user information is not that important.

If you install correctly as a standalone you should get something that looks pretty much like this Main Index - My Product Gallery
Forgot to give you a link to my test site earlier.
