Could you please let me know which file I need to edit to modify the "register" link in the above message?

Those phrases are in your language manager.

I searched the word "Register" in searching language string and could not find it.

maybe register?

Searched "register" did not find it either.

Not sure what your issue would be I entered register and came back with 24 results in our default language editor which I did right on our test install here.
