Cats and Sub Cats

Hi,

many thanks for the install, working great.

I am now trying to set up the cats and sub cats, but running into problems as i go deeper

I want the following

England
- East Anglia
- Bedfordshire

Now the bedforshire is showing on the same page as east anglia, and it would be great if you clicked on east anglia and the places there showed only under east anglia instead of all the sub cats on one page, see link below

You can set your cat depth to whatever level deep or not you wish under index options in admin.

No matter what depth i have changed this to it still shows the whole list in one page instead of in the sub cats, any chance you could take a look?

Your index only shows 3 parent categories so it seems your site is displaying correctly.

Yes that bit is correct, but if you look at sub cats inside the one parent

truckdriver-online.com/reviews/england/index5.html]England - Truckdriver-online Reviews

the essex and cambridge and that lot isnt meant to show till you click on east anglia....... they show okay when you click on east anglie, but shouldnt show when you go one depth down

set your catdepth to 0 so it only shows the parents.

Have now change the catdepth to 0, only to find that the 3 top cats dont show in the main index now?

truckdriver-online.com/reviews/index.php

so when you view the main index now it looks like there is nothing in there, but if you click on the box heading then it takes you to the sub - cats

well see thats your issue though the way you have it set up

It is working showing catdepth of 1.

That means there is nothing wrong. You have elected to show the first set of subcats with a catdepth of 1. That means your always going to show the first level of subcats with a depth of 1.

Therefore any parent category your viewing a list of your going to show one level down.

So really to display things like you want since now all your other levels display fine right you need to correct your index and have those cats not be contained within a category. Your working with nested categories.

You can go down as many steps as you want. All I am saying is catdepth is a global variable and applied to all parent cats. Therefore with a catdepth of 1 you are saying all parent cats that contain subcats one level is going to show.
