Reviewpost RSS Feed?

Is there an option to have an RSS feed that sends out an update when a new product is listed? Seems like it would be handy to have...

That's really a function of an RSS feed reader there. We have RSS feeds and if you input that into a reader when there is new content it will show in the feed reader thats how RSS is designed.

I'm asking about the feeds, not the reader. You say "We have RSS feeds", where do I find them?

Edit - Never mind, I found it... http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/r...t/external.php

Perfect, I'll combine that with the automated RSS reader in VB, and my forum will be notified when a new product is posted. ::cool!::

Yes the rss feeds are shown in your address bar when viewing the reviews where an rss link is suppose to show. vB's little rss to forum thing is like a feed reader.

Chuck,
I notice from checking my rss feed that it doesn't translate bbcodes, meaning all of the images are lost and just have the ]IMG[ tags, any way to get the rss feed to convert bbcodes to html before serving up the rss feed? That would fix the images and likely other things as well.

Well I realize that, BUT external.php IS taking the thumbnail image for the review or the classified and displaying it, meaning it is translating that image information into a viewable image for the RSS feed.

This would seem to suggest that for at least uploaded images displaying those should be possible since that image information is in the database. For inline images that people insert using bbcode tags that would require some sort of parser to be written to look for those and convert them to html before placing into the rss feed stream.

The first one is probably pretty easy, the latter probably more difficult, and I understand if there is no time for a developer to work on one or both, but if you could put it down as a requested feature I would appreciate it!

(As a work-around you can have your Reviews or Classifieds feed into a vbulletin forum and then use the VB forum's RSS feed to serve up the items with pics included since vb built a parser into their RSS feed - it's not always the cleanest solution but it works)

Ken the rss feed will display a description but any html bbcode etc is not parsed within it. One can try adding a convert_bbcode line to description in that external.php file
