thumbnail rebuilder not rebuilding/creating all thumbnails

Hello,

We have upgraded to the new version of RP, and also just moved to a new faster VPS server.

At first, we could not create thumbnails, but then we changed all of our data folder permissions to 777, and we were able to create some thumbs.

I noticed that some thumbnails were not created, however, even though the folder that the image resides in is set to 777.

Here is an example of the error that I receive when trying to rebuild thumbs:

Quote:
Thumbnail not sized: /home/xxxxx/public_html/reviews/data/60/thumbs/1Stolichnaya_Bakery--_Picture_247.jpg
Creating from /home/xxxxxx/public_html/reviews/data/60/1Stolichnaya_Bakery--_Picture_247.jpg ... completed!

Thumbnail not sized: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/reviews/data/60/thumbs/1Stolichnaya_Bakery--_Picture_247.jpg
Creating from /home/xxxxxx/public_html/reviews/data/60/1Stolichnaya_Bakery--_Picture_247.jpg ... failed!
Do you have any idea of what I can do to fix the issue?

Thank you for help,

K

Hello,

FYI, I checked the "/data/60" folder, and it and all of its subfolders are set to 777.

Thank you for any ideas.

Very odd...

If I go to an individual product, and go to "edit" that product, I can rebuild that product's thumb individually.

But, the "Check for and create missing thumbnails." function did not rebuild that particular (and a few other) thumbs...

Hi Chuck,

It seems that it is not all of the thumbnails...

I could run the thumbnail build again, and then paste all of the results if you think that will help.

In all of the cases in the thumbnail rebuild, I receive "Thumbnail not sized"

But, it some cases it says "completed!", and in some cases "failed!"

Here's another weird thing...

I individually rebuild some item thumbnails, and these thumbnails were displaying fine.

But then, when I ran a "Check for and create missing thumbnails," that process deleted some of the thumbs that had a "failed!" error that I listed above.

So, that "create missing thumbnail" process must have deleted the thumbs that I manually created in the product "edit" window.

Do you have ideas as to how I can resolve this, Chuck?

I appreciate your thoughts.

Here is the interesting part....

1) I checked to see if there was a thumbnail that existed for "1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif" in the "data/101" folder, and there was NOT.

2) Then, I manually created a thumbnail for "1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif," and I see that it WAS created in the "101" folder.

3) Then, in the RP Admin panel, in the "Scan Database" function, I ran "Check for and create missing thumbnails."

4) During the "Check for and create missing thumbnails," I received both a "completed!" and "failed!" message for the "1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif" file, one right after the other:

Quote:
Thumbnail not sized: /home/xxxx/public_html/reviews/data/101/thumbs/1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif
Creating from /home/xxxx/public_html/reviews/data/101/1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif ... completed!

Thumbnail not sized: /home/xxxx/public_html/reviews/data/101/thumbs/1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif
Creating from /home/xxxx/public_html/reviews/data/101/1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif ... failed!
5) When I checked the "101" data folder again, the "1aeroflot_airlines_logo3.gif" in the thumbnail folder was gone, so obviously, RP deleted it.

However, all thumbs were not deleted, just some of them, probably thumbs that I created for products that I uploaded when I first installed my first RP installation in 2003 or 2004.

How do you feel that we can resolve this?

I appreciate your help.

K

By the age of some of the products in my RP installation, I know that my RP software was installed between Jan-Sep 2003.

I wonder whether some of the DB data was written in a different format than it is in the latest version, and when my current RP installation is checking to see if a product has a thumbnail, it does not recognize when an older item has a thumb and then deletes the thumb, and then tries to create another thumb (but fails, for some reason).

well I cant really speculate without seeing the issue but I have an extensive OLD reviewpost library of products I use as a marine database persay and can not replicate the issue

I would have to see your actual site and maybe debug some code. The interesting part here is this obviously why are you getting a successful thumbnail rebuilt message and then next it fails and we are talking the same thumbnail

I know, it is odd...

I have not modified any code nor any of the databases, so I don't know what could have caused this.

What do you think is the next step?

I can take a look if I have server info. You can send that via the contact us link in the header. Probally not something I am gonna have an immediate response for since it would probally take some debugging

I appreciate it, Chuck.

What info would you like? My RP admin login info? Or the website server login info?
