How do I make it a pay site?

What would be the best way to make my ReviewPost installation a members-only site, which requires an annual fee, with a username and password, to access the information?

You can use the subscription ability in Reviewpost 4.0 to elevate someone into a higher usergroup and set permissions accordingly. You can make a subscription for a year with a set fee and then deny other usergroups from viewing content and use your announcement feature to tell people to subscribe.

To clarify what you posted earlier in this thread ("deny other usergroups from viewing content")...

How do you deny a usergroup from viewing the content? I have studied the usergroups permissions and I can't see how to deny any type of user the ability to view the content. What specifically do you set, so that that group cannot see any of the content?

Thanks!

Under Admin => edit categories for each category you can refine permissions even further and set which groups can view upload or post.

I want to use Authorize.net for the subscriptions, because I have an account with Authorize.net. I don't want to use PayPal. Under "All Options," the first line asks me which Payment Processor I want to use, and it says, "currently paypal and authorize.net are supported."

I typed in authorize.net, and saved the changes, but when I go to Payment Options, it still asks me for Paypal information. Also, if I then click on "Add/Edit Subscriptions," I get a message saying "You must set your payment processor to Paypal to use this Feature!"

So how do I enable Authorize.net payments instead of Paypal? Is there another file I need to upload Authorize.net, or else what do I need to do?

Thank you

The subscription feature has only been coded to use paypal at this time. Alot of work went into reading the paypal ipn and subscription regulations etc so other services would need to be added in the future.

If your doing regular ad payments any of the 4 payment processors are allowed.

PayPal is an extremely risky service to use. They stole $72 from my checking account in 2005 and denied it happened. I have found Authorize.net to be far safer and more reliable. Many horror stories about PayPal can be read at paypalsucks.com

Hello bob weaver,

Yes, i fully agree with you.

You are talking about $72 whereas I was fooled with $679 and I even filed a complaint with BBB and unfortunately paypal seems to managed them and BBB favored paypal and closed the matter.

Yes, I fully agree that paypal is very risky since we do not know the person who is sending the payment. They remain completely anonymous.

It all happened in Sept 2006 with one of my site where I auction domains. A domain was auction for $672 and the seller asked for the payment. I email paypal about the formalities but they never replied. On the other end, the seller was insisting for the payment and I issued him the payment only to realise the buyer has disputed the transaction as unauthorized.

I told paypal to stop the payment I issued to the seller but they never did that and kept giving me some reasons or the other whereas I knew that something wrong would happen and I had already informed paypal to keep a close eye on the payment i issued to the seller and do not allow him to withdraw it. They assured me that they have stopped the payment but at the last moment, they denied any such thing.

Later on I realised that buyer and seller are both one and the same and they use this trick to fool the webmasters.

I have preserved all the email I had sent to paypal but don't know what to do with them.

Now few days back, another charge back of $120 has been initiated with paypal and I know that they will favor the buyer. In fact paypal never favor the sellers.

Chuck, you better remain alert with paypal because as long as it has not happened with you, its ok. But they day it happens, you hardly will be able to do anything. So many people out there with whom it has happened cannot be wrong.
