One little question ...

I notice that under "recent reviews" and "most popular reviews" as well as "random" that it lists the name, then the author under it. Is it possible for the author name not to show?

You would need to edit those specific templates and remove the variable for the authors name.

Maybe features.tmpl singular? I don't have a plural and don't want to break anything ... I'm good at breaking php

Learned that back in 1996 with a host who always said "edit on the server" until I killed an entire site. I then learned to backup every file first, and still do, even though I no longer edit on the server!
