Getting rid of a code error

1 Attachment(s)
While trying to paste some text within the announcement box I pasted some google code. Tried to delete it but it will not let me, keeps coming back. Now if I turn on show announcements the index page is blank.
Attached image shows how it is displaying in the admin area. How do I get this corrected?

Which version of Photopost you using? I would suggest upgrading to the latest which fixes this issue. This is an old bug that was fixed a bit ago.

Ginslinger December 13th, 2006 12:57 PM

Using 3.2. I'll take a look at upgrading.

Ginslinger December 13th, 2006 01:26 PM

Chuck, couple questions regarding upgrades. I have never had much luck doing updates for your products. Call me dumb or what but the instructions to me offer very limited information.

Need to do updates from 3.2 to current version. Do I upload all files included with the download? Do I need to do increment updates?

Chuck S December 13th, 2006 02:38 PM

Yeah you have 2 versions your missing.

Upload all php files except the config and all subdirectories and files except uploads and data and run the upgrade script from 3.2 to 3.3 and 3.3 to 3.32

Ginslinger December 13th, 2006 02:52 PM

OK, now this is were I get confused. I have done updates for other scripts that when they say upload all PHP files they mean only php files. I am going to take it I am too upload all files that were present in the download. Correct?

If this was a program I worked with each day I would not have issues, but it is not. My installation has almost 300 meg of data that has taken months to build so I want to make sure I don't screw up. This is why I am being very careful.

Chuck S December 13th, 2006 04:07 PM

Yes you upload exactly as I noted which is why I said upload all php files except the config files and then all subdirectories with their files except uploads and data directories sorry if this was not clear.

I am worried about doing an update myself. I am having the same announce ment box proble. I am going to do a full backup of my site on my computer so if things go bad, I should be able to just transfer the old site back in.

I think that will work as a safety measure???

I wish us well!

Ray

P.S. It would be nice if PhotoPost upgrades were easier ro install. All the documentation I saw seemed to be for new full installs? I must have gone tot he wrong place. We dummies need all the help we can get!

Chuck S March 6th, 2007 07:17 AM

There is an upgrade doc in the documentation folder. You simply upload all files except config files and run upgrade.php and select the upgrades you need to run.

The announcement box in admin always says the latest version to upgrade to 3.32. Your present version is also shown on the statistics in admin

Version 2.6 Announcement Box Fix

I am running ver 2.6 What do I need to upgrade so it fixes the code stuck in the announcement box title.

Thanks for any help. I am a professional dummy.

Ray

P.S. I have modified codes for header pic and adsense. I don't want to lose these in the process of upgrading. I'm a big chicken, cluck, cluck.

PhotoPostClassifieds is the software and my site is www.FreeCarsNetAds.com

I was wrong I have ver 2.5 and when I go to admin it say 2.6 upgrades available. I will check out the documentation folder. I am still concerned with losing my mods. Maybe the documentation will make me feel more comfortable.

Thanks,

Ray

Your talking about classifieds not reviewpost ;)

That being the case, is there a mod I can make to my existing software to solve the Announcement Box glitch?

Thanks,

Ray

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I imagine there is a fix just for the Announcement Box Title enability it to be erased. I rather just change that than do an upgrade and lose a bunch of mods. This is for PhotoPost Classifieds.
