Some of my members have been experiencing this problem recently when posting comments on a picture that someone has uploaded.

Most people who report the issue are using wireless internet connectivity ie. 3G or HSDPA, but someone has also mentioned being on ADSL. At first we thought that the problem might be cookie related, as the only way that I could recreate the problem was to use a standalone version of IE6, login to vbulletin and navigate to a person's gallery. I would then be signed out. I log back in, post my comment, and then would get logged out again. If I log back in then, it returns an invalid call to script error.

Now this scenario is pretty bizarre, and seemed to only happen in IE6 standalone (I have IE7 installed on my pc, not 6 anymore) which uses a query string to point to the session. However, using a pc with IE6 as main browser, it all works fine.

My only thoughts are that the connection people use causes the problem. From what I understand from members the error did not appear when the site was hosted in our country, but since we moved it overseas due to bandwidth costs, it started happening.

Any thoughts on this? Any way to work around this? I would hate to see people leave the community because their comments and participation cannot get posted due to script errors. I think the invalid call to scrip is just a symptom of another problem, but cannot find anything up to this point

Any help or advice or anything would be greatly appreciated. We love photopost, as it is the core of the site, and it has been awesome since day one!

This is a very old thread there.

what product are you talking about? This is Reviewpost thread but you meantion Photopost.

Someone can only get invalid call to script if they try entering the comment.php script in photopost or reviewpost without hitting the actual link that has the photo or product variable in it. It does not indicate an error with the actual scripting.

I realise its an old thread, but I appreciate that you looked at it

Our problem occurs, according to their feedback, that when they try to comment on someones picture, the get the error. I havent been able to replicate it to a useful extent, so cannot really test it.

I have my suspicions that the connections the people getting the error use have some influence but it doesnt make sense along with what you said. Can any form of cookie problem cause that there is not photo var in the link?

Cookies would have nothing to do with that issue. Look here

reviews/reviews.php?product=17

works fine

reviews/reviews.php?product=

invalid call to script.

The product id is missing that your reviewing.

reviews/reviews.php

Same thing no product id someone accessing the script alone a bot

'Thats the kind of things I am talking about.

Yep thanks I understand that. I saw yesterday it works the same with comments.php

I am just trying to figure out why when someone posts a comment, the server responds with that after a while of waiting. Like I said, I think the wireless isp's have some lagtime or latency which causes not all of the info in the query string to be sent through, which results in that error. The problem occurs for only a select few people, and it appears that they are all using the same provider.

I can post some of their feedback here if you want, to give some insight into what they experience when getting the error.

If its a result of there ISP there as we suspect not much I can say or assist with. Our script is performing correctly.

Users are reporting this error when uploading pictures also. Will the same lack of variables cause it show the error when uploading, ie no picture variable?
