Search boxes on pront page of site

I'd like to put the ReviewPost and PhotoPost 'search' box on my portal front page to make it eaven easier for visitors to my site to find products.

Is it going to be as straightforward as copying the search box code or are there things I need to be aware of? (as this code will be in / but my gallery is in is in /gallery and my photos in /gallery)

I've been poking around and eventually found the code... in searchbox.tmpl - can I just take all of that code as it is and put it into an HTML block? I also don't know to tell the code that it's not operating in /reviews (so that all of the variables are properly declared) - how do I do that?

No you would take the code from your page source or something like this

Code:

Is it at all possible to restict a search (from this type of search box) to certain categories or fields within each product?

You would need to place a hidden input box with the name mcats and the value listed like 502,503,504 etc

I'm enjoying this learning a bit about search boxes.

No wall I need to know... when PP or RP does a search is it searching on all fields? If it is... how do I tell it to search on on the title field or a specific product field?
