Nothing showing up on index.php

I have the program installed. I have created a cat and uploaded a product. When I visit the site as a regular user I dont see anything, i have to go to recently added products or search. How do I default it to showing the categories and some recent products

Okay in your Admin => Edit Categories set permissions for guests to view the members gallery.

Right now guests do not have permission to view the category.

You would have had to remove viewing priviledges for this to display like this as by default all groups would have permission to view.
