Product Sort Order - default to Product Title (alphabetical)

Is there a way to set the default product display order to alphabetical?

Thanks. -- Rik

PS: We are reviewing restaurants and want the restaurants to be easy to find.

well in showcat.php you can change the 2 to whatever you want it to be

if ( empty($sort) ) $sortparam = 2;

I beleive 8 is to sort by title

Chuck:

8 was the correct sort parameter for Product Title.

Thanks for that tip. -- Rik

You can not have distance as a sort. The reason being is what we have said all along it is a variable that is calculated after grabbing the data and is on the fly. The sorts are sorts on the mysql table like so when grabbing the data

ORDER BY views

ORDER BY price

ORDER BY title

etc etc

If there was some way to do it I would have done it already. I figured a way of doing it though the page generation times where so slow because of the complexity of the query and the calculations that have to be done on each result that it was impossible to add that to the package.
