Sum of reviews in parent category doesn't match total in child category

Hi Chuck,

We've been emailing you with no response on your end, so we're going to start posting bugs on the forums to continue fixing issues with RP. The login information we sent you in August is still valid, so you can use that to access the dev server with the unmodified copy of RP.

The first bug: On the top level page, the number of reviews shown in a parent category such as "Canon Lens" (Reviews = 0) does not equal the sum of reviews in child categories (such as "Canon Lens: Primes" reviews = 4, "Canon Lens: Zooms" reviews = 3.) It does in RP 3.3. Re-scanning DB in Admin options didn't help. See:

Thanks!

I do not see any emails from you to the photopost company I checked our helpdesk. I do not have details to any site your referring to as it has been along time since we discussed anything and I commented on things for you.

what version are you using?

I am using 5.21

Main Index - Reeftalk Reviews

Now I am using vb4 so things display a bit different but I checked my database and for example the online retailers section has 11 reviews through its children and I checked the database posts entry for the parent cat it shows 11 posts so its accurate.

Maybe try downloading the current code and reapplying the files and doing a rescan?

Your issue definately sounds like something I fixed in a prior version.

We were emailing you directly to your gmail account. That's how you were communicating with us before.

You mention a PhotoPost company email. Would you prefer we email you there with the bug list? If so, where would we find that email address? If/when needed, I can resend the login information we sent before to the gmail account when we were discussing these fixes before your vacation.

This install is 5.2. I will install 5.21 and do a rescan and see if this bug still exists.

Thanks!

well what I am saying is I have no guarantee that I would receive emails to any personal accounts since spam filters probally block things. You probally got hold of a personal email because I was on vacation but yes email contact should be to photopost company which can be reached as always through the contact us link in our header. You should sent any details there for the server as yes I would not have details from almost 5 months ago.

Thanks Chuck. I will.

I diffed 5.21 with 5.2 and uploaded the updated files. Is there an update script for the database? I uploaded upgrade.php to the root, but I don't see anything for moving from 5.2 to 5.21 and our install is still saying we have 5.2 installed.

Also, I did rescan the database after uploading the updated files, but the bug still persists.

Thanks.

No database changes as noted in the documentation.

I can tell you the upgradecategories function is what does the counts in pp-inc.php and in the example I provided it definately does what it is suppose to do.

I will take a look at what you have but you should still have a clean test site setup with unmodified files so not sure why your trying to do diff's when we should be working with all clean unmodified files.

It's a habit to do diffs for previous updates with RP.

This is a fresh install of 5.2 I was upgrading from. We imported a portion of our data from the live site. (You'll notice that as a lot of our review information doesn't display correct due to frame issues.)

I went ahead and dumped all files onto our server, since the only thing we modified on the installation are items stored in the database.

I've rescanned and the issue is fixed as you stated. I'll keep working through the other bugs we had seen in our install and post a new thread if needed.

Okay not a problem. Yeah I know doing diff's is a habit for you

Anything reported as a bug and verified to actually be a bug has long been fixed there are no open issues to my knowledge.
