Exclamation Review not using Custom BB tags?

I've added some custom BB tags via admincp and my members like using them in the forum. One of them allows picture and text alignment which would be very handy for reviews but when we tried using it in a review the custom bb tag was simply ignored. Is there a way to use custom bb tags in reviewpost or allow reviewpost to see/recognize the ones from vbulletin?

Backup the header-inc.php and try this one and see if that helps.

That did the trick! Thanks! Can you see to it that it makes it into the next release so I don't accidentally go backwards when I upgrade next?

Not a problem at all. I take it your using a newer vb and we just released 6.02 to get the quickreply back and this file will be updated to all our products.

I am using 3.6.8 PL2, I have not touched the 3.6.7 beta yet, waiting to see the final product. 6.02 is a version of what, ReviewPost? I need to check my version... I am using 3.33 of ReviewPost so I don't know what 6.02 refers to???

Egads I think I may have asked my question in the wrong forum, I see "Review Post PRO" at the top of the page... did I make an oops?

No if your using reviewpost what I posted is valid and you said it works. I said that we made some changes to 6.02 of Photopost and I just applied those changes to the reviewpost file and posted it here and you said it works.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. BTW, I have noticed that links don't work if you use the URL option method meaning you have the URL tag with [ URL="hyperlink" ]What you want people to see[ / url ] (spaces added so you could see what I mean by URL with an option. It creates some funky psuedo link with %20's in it and if you click on it doesn't go anywhere. Is there a fix for that as well? I'd prefer to have hyperlinks use friendlier words rather than some long URL's themselves.

To my knowledge you need to enter a valid full url. At least thats how it works. I hit the url and enter a url and it posts fine.

Review not using Custom BB tags?

Yes if you do a simple URL of URL tag followed by URL followed by closing tag it works, but that mean what you see as the link is the link itself, as opposed to using the URL option tag where you have URL="hyperlink" followed by the friendly words that you want to appear (as opposed to having the link itself appear).

What I mean is a difference between this:

http://www.caymanclub.net and this:
Best Cayman Site on the Web!

The first example works in Reviewpost, but 2nd does not.

Right but what button is this in a default vb reviewpost install and on the quick reply I just dont see it. I hit the world thing and enter a url and it works. Do you have some type of hack installed.

I follow what your saying I just dont see that option in a default vb.

Well in the editor in standard vbulletin if you highlight text in a message and then click the button for entering a web link (looks like earth with chain link) it will use the highlighted text as what the user sees to click on, like my example above that says "Best Cayman Site on the Web".

In Reviewpost you don't have the same editor as vbulletin in the forum, so you cannot click on a button because there isn't one. You can, however, manually type in BB codes like [url] or [url="..."] followed by a closing tag.

What I am saying is that when the text is parsed whatever is doing the interpreting of the BB code URL tag is only recognizing [url] by itself, not the url bb code tag with the option.

I would assume that if you look at how vbulletin parses BB Codes for the URL tag in the vbulletin editor and applied that same code to ReviewPost it would work correctly. Ultimately I'd like to see the WYSIWYG editor from the vbulletin forum applied to entering the product description or in my case what we use it for is articles. When you post a REVIEW then you get the WYSIWYG editor and I'm assuming the BB Codes are handled properly, but they don't seem to be for entering the product or article initially that you are going to do a review upon.

Since there is no wysiwyg editor in there today I have to manually type the BB Codes, which I am fine with doing, but it would be nice if they all worked as I would expect them to.

Does that help?

Nope Chuck you are still missing where I mean. I am NOT talking about when you respond by posting a review, I am talking about when the article or product or whatever is first posted. On your site it was a picture with replies, instead of using photopost use reviewpost and when you enter a new product or item to be reviewed see if you can put a friendly link into that, I bet you can't.

Let me see if I can make it easier for you.
Click this link, it is to an "article" or "product" that is being reviewed on our site:
http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...roduct=1&cat=2

Notice in the body of the article there is a link to http://www.wheelwax.com and later on www.boothedesign.com. Those links work because they are the actual URL typed in, if I try to use friendly text and URL with an option, it doesn't work in the article body.

It DOES work in the reviews/replies of which that article has 9 review/replies. Again, I'm not talking about in a review/reply I am talking about in the body of the article itself. Hopefully that cleared up what I am saying doesn't work and where I'd really like to see a WYSIWYG editor but if not, at least have it parse the BB Code correctly for URLs using the option capability.

Thanks!

Hello

We dont show a wysiwyg editor in photopost reviewpost or none of our products for descriptions on photos or products. Therefore you might want to review how it is processed on a review and make sure your entering the code exactly as its processed there correctly since you dont have the little world icon to use.

I think the root of your issue looking at your replies your trying bbcode but its not that its simply html and as long as you allow html in your product desriptions in admin options you should be fine look at how its done

Code:

Ok true if I allow HTML in a product description aren't I opening myself up to potential security issues, autoredirects, etc?

Did you see the link I posted just for you? If you hover over it what it produces is a link but with a %22 at the beginning and a %22 at the end, thus I figured that somewhere in your parsing BB Code php that there is a problem with the way it is parsing it that could be fixed and not append the %22's and thus result in a valid link.

we dont parse the code if your integrated with vb3 we use their code parsers

what I am saying is that the functionality you are talking about is limited to reviews where your using vb3's wysiwyg editor. Now you can mimic that functionality manually by viewing the actual code vb uses. We surpress html in descriptions etc unless you say its okay to do that so that specific box in the vb wysiwyg editor writes out an html thing not bbcode so to mimic that somewhere we do not use a vb editor you need to use the default code vb produces hense why I posted the html I did to show you what you need to do.

Look at your code and then look at my code which clearly works and I provided a link for and this should show you how to do what you want but yes you need to enable html in descriptions.

I dont think so because thats not what this discussion was about specifically. All 3 of our products only use the vb editor on comments thats it. Reviewpost and Classifieds have the TinyMCE editor
