search by username not working

Hi there, me again.

I go to the "search" link, then enter an existing username that exists in my photopost user database (I use photopost integration) into the "search by username" box, and I get no results, even though I know there are reviews that exist from that username. Por que?

Really since Reviewpost does not use a username or display one we should just remove it out of the search for reviewpost.

???? But it does! It displays the author of the review for each review.

This was a HUGE factor in my purchase of reviewpost, and I had posed this question of functionality before my purchase, the ability to find reviews by certain people.

In fact, the rp_reviews table contains fields for username AND userid.

I guess I'm back to coding this search in on my own.

Well the username is not displayed at all on any post at all so there is my opinion this is a useless feature

However the search by username works fine

I just uploaded a test by a test username and there is only one post by this user

here is the link

I think YOU are talking about posting PRODUCTS, while I am talking about REVIEWS. I don't see a review at all in the link you gave, just an uploaded product.

My users will not have the ability to upload products, just to rate them. And like I said, each review lists the username plain and clear in the table, along with information such as when they registered, and number of posts. This is all listed under "Author".

So I guess the search by username is not searching reviews at all, it is actually only searching products. And I can see that this would be the norm for necessity of the product, but it doesn't suit my highly customized needs. Therefore, I will have to adjust it on my own.

Thanks for your help (??)

Yes I call a product a review as its reviewpost

Your talking about searching comments/reviews.

Nope none of our products search the comments table.

Referring to a product as a "review" has been the cause of many problems trying to read the code and edit language variables. A product is a product. It gets reviewed.

I also would love to see the comments (reviews) searched. Just today I was trying to search for all the product reviews (comments) of a given user and was not able to. I have added this request for RP3.

The way the search is presented it appears that one should be able to search for reviews written by a particular user. That would be a very useful feature. Since it only searches for products posted by the specified user, I agree it is not terribly useful.

UPDATE: I think I got this sorted out. I started a new thread with the bugfixes:

[2.9 vbE] Three bugs in showcat.php affect My Watchlist

After those fixes described above, you should be able to search on the reviews and search for users who made specific comments in their review. You do need to specifically check the box that says "search comments" because "search all fields" doesn't search comments.

Regards,

Matt
