| Ideas for ReviewPost 6
Okay time has come for a beta cycle on ReviewPost. I am working in a closed alpha getting a beta ready and am just looking for some ideas on features to add in addition to all the other stuff I am doing. Main Index - My Product Gallery
I have all the other template sets to do yet and all the vb4 stuff to do before I can get a public beta out.
Right now I am working on getting ReviewPost up to par with the changes we have made in PhotoPost Pro and Classifieds
The following are just a preview of the definate additions that are being done in the alpha stage
New features:
. New ReviewPost templates layout
. Improved AJAX features throughout
. Included for vBulletin4 are plugins to include reviewpost content into your forum. All profile links will go to your forum where all reviews content will be listed.
. CSS Mobile Style Layout
. Social Integration Links
. Ability to set number of preview images
. Word Censor and Ban Lists added.
. Enhancement and expansion of the CAPTCHA System.
. Added Usergroup Permission whether to use Captcha or not.
. New Mail section in admin to where all mail settings and options are housed.
. New SMTP Mail option where you can set your smtp mail settings and send email from the program via SMTP instead of PHP mail.
. New Simplified Product Template Type Creation. It will create all templates and alternate language files needed. Likewise when you delete an add type all files associated with that language type will be deleted.
. Support for the new vb 4.2 navigation system
. Added in server date time set if empty in newer PHP 5 when it is required to be set.

If you are asking for ideas and suggestions, then here are some:
Integration into activity stream
vbadvanced module
forum widget
CMS widget
vbulletin notifications
More ideas here: Lets combine funds for a Reviews CMS with business/product directory - vBulletin.org Forum Quote:
Reviews should have different sections, so you could for example have sections for movie reviews, restaurant reviews and product reviews.
permissions per section
The overview of reviews of each section, should allow for different display options, to be set by the admin.
A store like display option.
Option to choose to only have editor rating functions or only user rating functions or both.
Optional 'Buy now' button on forumdisplay for affiliate products.
Navigation treeview menu widget to display categories.
A review can be in multiple categories/sections.
Reviews should have:
Author ratings, with pretty AJAX stars, bars and other pretty rating scales. Author ratings can be turned off.
Member ratings. Member ratings can be turned off.
Combined rating averages.
Rating value should have an alt text. For example: if you choose to have ratings with 1 - 5 stars, then hovering over a 5 star rating could state 'excellent', while hovering over a 1 star rating could stat
Admins should be able to define rating questions and custom fields.
Custom fields should allow:
1. fields that work like tags. i.e. clicking on the word 'spaghetti' in a custom field would lead to all restaurants that serve spaghetti.
2. fields with AJAX autofill functions.
3. single line text fields
4. multiple line text fields
5. mandatory fields
6. tickbox fields
7. payment methods icons
Images with text wrap and image caption
Image carousel or another solution to allow a large number of images to be displayed.
Google maps integration. (show/browse all vendors/hotels/restaurants on a map)
Product video playing inline (youtube, vimeo, etc)
Amazon.com & other major affiliate network integration (automatically pull prices from Clickbank, Commission Junction and Amazon and add affiliateID to purchase link)
Automatic population of fields from amazon/other affiliate networks by ISBN or productID: image, product title, author, description, product details(up to weight)
Allow paid listing trough subscriptions and paid expanded listings. When a user pays for an expanded listing more custom fields become visible. For example: url, extended description, products & prices, offers, photos, Google maps, logo, etc.
A 'featured' widget that shows x companies. Companies can buy a listing in this widget.
Allow online and offline payments.
Allow users to claim listings. (for example: a restaurant owner can claim the listing for his restaurant and buy features for it)
When users claim listings or when listing owners buy expanded listings, first then let them agree to T&C.
After the user has agreed to it, also send a notification by email that they have agreed to the T&C.
Setting to moderate all edits & content posted by listing owners. (to avoid spam & unwanted content)
Allow users to post feedback to reviewed company. (visible in the listing, but separated from normal comments)
If the listing is claimed, then send this feedback to the owner. (email/pm) This feature can be bought by the listing owner.
Permission setting to hide comments to listing owner.
Permission setting to hide listings not owned by user.
Ability to compare prices of all vendors that sell product X
Summary charts for all restaurants that serve Y. i.e. a table that lists those restaurant, with the data from custom fields, as the admin defines.
Search for restaurants that have specific data in custom fields X, Y and Z.
Use rich snippets so that Google will show reviews & ratings
Reviews should be loaded with interactive AJAX/jquery functions.
CkEditor for users and admin side
Infractions & moderation tools
Reputation
CMS widgets
New entries & comments in 'What's New'
Searchable with vb search engine / Sphinx
Subscribe to entry
Tags
Usergroup permissions
Use of vb attachment system vb postbit is shown vb avatar is shown
profiles link to vb profile
design can be integrated
GARS importer
Allow for thousands of categories
Excellent SEO / link structure in pages and navigation | |

Pretty much finishing up the vb4 stuff Main Index - Reeftalk Reviews
One more template set to go through the vb3 one and then I can test with vb3 and a forum integration like smf etc and then I should be ready for a public beta.

Looks really nice. Some simple feedback. Looking forward to final release to add on my sites running RP.
1. Remove the Distance from You (seems to be a classifieds template add?) or at least make it an option to turn off throughout?
2. Is it possible to have a solution to have recent reviews show up in the "What's New" tab?

The standalone is what has the most template changes. Main Index - My Product Gallery
1. zipcode feature has always been a part of reviewpost that product is older than classifieds You can turn it off.
2. there is yet to my knowledge any official guide to the activity stream or how to incorporate it so no plugins for that would be incorporated till such documentation exists.

I just uploaded all of the Beta 2 files and everything appears to work the same. I am having an issue with selecting No for recommending a product and the Review Date isn't showing on the review post. I just for your site, Reeftalk, to see if you were having the same issue and it appears you are. When you go to edit the review you can see that the selection is set to no but, it still shows yes and is added to the percentage of users who recommend the product.

Yeah, I know I reported it and you said you'd look into it. I was just reporting that the new version didn't seem to fix the issue either. I see you fixed it on my forum though. Thank you very much!
EDIT: I just went back on your Reeftalk site to edit my comment and I see you have different ratings, how did you do that? I like it!

From my other feedback thread, I'd also like to suggest an improved editor for use when uploading new products and modifying existing ones. We also really need some sort of inline editing of user submitted reviews so moderators can fix them before approving them to the public to see. As is, they don't even know what product is being reviewed and waiting for approval unless the member mentions it in their text. The editor issues remain by far the top issue my moderators have with Reviewpost.
I'll also add a new one- a more foolproof way to update from the current version so fools like me won't break stuff in the process;-) I've stuggled a lot with it and I'm guessing I'm not alone, since two separate service providers had issues helping me resolve them as well.

One thing I am working on right now is increasing the max number of images from 9 to 15 per product.
