SEO Urls for Reviewpost

Couple of small questions:
  • SEO links aren't working. I assume I need an .htc access file but the one in the download doesn't work. Where can I get it, what should be in it and where does it go?
  • I downloaded ReviewPost 5.0 but my Powered by notice says 4.1 not sure if that's an issue or not.
  • Can you upload a csv file into the database to populate the reviews? It would be much easier if I could build a spreadsheet of products and upload into reviewpost rather than uploading one by one.

That should be enough to keep me in trouble for now.

Thanks.

The one in the download should work fine its what we have running in the example. Did you rename HTACCESS to .htaccess and put it in your server directory.

Also to use SEO your server has to be using mod rewrite is that on in the server?

There is no csv upload function sorry

The 5.0 is a beta not gold. Thanks I will look at the install script and check. You sure you tried running the upgrade whats the site link?

Site link

I am in there working on colors and backgrounds and format etc right now. I did rename the .htaccess file and left it in the root of my reviewpost install. Should it go somewhere else?

I didn't run any kind of upgrade...this was my initial purchase and initial install. Should I have installed the older version first and then upgraded?

I wanted to start the site with SEO links, that's why I went with the Beta.

Well as stated 5.0 is beta not our current gold which is 4.1

You may want to run the upgrade to 5.0 in the upgrade script not sure I added 5.0 stuff to the base install yet.

Hammer107 December 3rd, 2009 06:37 PM

Where do I get the upgrade script? The file I downloaded was the 5.0 zip file....that was my base file...I never had an older version on the site.

Talk to me like I am an idiot because I am hacking my way through this stuff.

Chuck S December 3rd, 2009 06:45 PM

The upgrade.php script is located in the code you downloaded simply upload it to your base directory run it in your browser and select to run the 4.1 to 5.0 upgrade script.

Hammer107 December 3rd, 2009 06:47 PM

Ok...I'll try that a little bit later and see how it goes. The .htaccess file should go in what directory? Where my reviewpost is located?

Here is my url structure. mydomain/forums/reviews

Thanks.

Chuck S December 3rd, 2009 07:00 PM

Yes the htaccess goes in your reviewpost directory

Hammer107 December 3rd, 2009 07:57 PM

Running this upgrade script won't overwrite my style changes...colors etc will it?

Chuck S December 3rd, 2009 08:39 PM

No css stylesheets are files the upgrade script does database updates to the reviewpost tables.

Hammer107 December 3rd, 2009 09:07 PM

Tried running the script....got this error.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_ext() (previously declared in /home/hawgnet/public_html/forums/reviews/upgrade.php:64) in /home/hawgnet/public_html/forums/reviews/pp-inc.php on line 866

Chuck S December 4th, 2009 05:03 AM

redownload the build and reupload upgrade.php and try running it.

Hammer107 December 4th, 2009 06:47 AM

This error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare diewell() (previously declared in /home/hawgnet/public_html/forums/reviews/upgrade.php:49) in /home/hawgnet/public_html/forums/reviews/pp-inc.php on line 3048

Also in the upgrade list...the choices you can make....it shows 4.2 to 5.0 but my powered by link still says 4.1 Not sure that it matters but mentioned it nonetheless.

Chuck S December 4th, 2009 08:20 AM

Remove this from upgrade.php and try again

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
It does not matter if your copyright says 4.1 your running 4.2 and running that upgrade should help you.

Hammer107 December 4th, 2009 09:02 AM

Says upgrade complete.....

ReviewPost Upgrade
Preparing to update database...

Upgrade complete! You should continue to imnport your language strings next step

When I try to import my language strings.....gives me a page not found error.

Does that matter?

Hammer107 December 4th, 2009 09:05 AM

I have it set to SEO URLs now.....and they show when I hover over the links but I get a page not found error if I click on any of them.

My Site

Chuck S December 4th, 2009 09:10 AM

Have you renamed the htaccess file as I noted?

http://hawgnet.com/forums/reviews/va...ser-duals.html
